Platinum Luncheon – Celebrating 100 Years of Heritage

This week we were excited to welcome just over 90 ‘Old Girls’ back to Redlands. This was a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the rich history and development of our Redlands programs and facilities and celebrate 100 Years since the Liggins Building was open.

The Liggins Building opened on 9 May 1923 in honour of Redlands co-founder Miss Elizabeth Liggins. First a boarding house, then kitchen, art room laboratory, pottery workshop, and during WWII it even housed the School’s bomb shelter. Gergaynia Shelley (nee Beckett) RL 1957 and Alumni Award Winner 2023 remembers senior biology classes downstairs in the Science Lab.

Our guests were very impressed to see the how the campus has grown since their times. They also appreciated hospitality of our students and staff. A special Thank You to Year 11 students who kindly escorted our guests and our extraordinary musical performances from Years 7, 9 and 11 students whose preparation and talent enabled them to shine and bring a joy to our guests. Thank you to the Redlanders Alumni Association members joining us for this event and Natalie Davies RL 1987 in particular for her address.

A booklet full of memories from our Platinum Redlanders was compiled to celebrate and recognise this special centenary milestone. If you wish to read these enjoyable memories click HERE
