Year 9
Welcome to Term 2
Mr Millham and I would like to welcome Yr 9 to another busy and exciting term at Redlands. It was great to connect with students on Wednesday as we walked around each Tutor Group. Students were reconnecting and sharing stories of their holidays, alongside what they are looking forward to this term. This term sees some key events on the school calendar for Yr 9, including our camp to Arnhem Land and the Connect to Extend Information Evening. We look forward to continuing to support your young person as they navigate the experiences of Yr 9, focussing on positive decision making and building resilience this term.
Term Reminders
Winter Uniform
Students are required to wear their Winter School uniform including blazers when travelling to and from school. School shoes should be polished, and hair kept tidy, with hair longer than shoulder length worn up and out of the face. Boys’ hair should also be neatly cut and worn as per the guidelines in the Student Planner and published on Pulse.
Skirts should sit at the top of the knee. Those students who need a new skirt or who need to let their hem down should do so by Monday.
Supporting Student Management of the School Day
Students are required to arrive at school by 8.10am so they can ready themselves at their locker for a prompt start. Period 1 commences at 8.20am sharp. At this time, all Secondary School students should be in their first lesson of the day. At the conclusion of the school day, all students who are not attending the Study Centre, should make their way directly home. Students should avoid frequenting the local shops and loitering around the local area. Students across Yr 7 to 12 have home learning and/or revision and the expectation is that they develop and deepen their learning independently after school. This independent learning may take place at home or at a local library and should occur as early as possible in the evening so that each young person has ample time to eat dinner and rest before retiring at a reasonable bedtime.
Arnhem Land
Medical Forms and Medication
If you have not done so already, please complete the Health and Wellbeing Form in preparation for Arnhem Land – click HERE
If your child/ren requires medication (Prescribed or OTC) on camp, you will need to complete and return to Mr Atkins, a Medical Authority Form located on Pulse HERE.
This form will need to be returned to Mr Atkins by Friday 19 May. Students should not be arriving to camp without a completed MAF if they require medication.
Please contact Mr Atkins: eatkins@redlands.nsw.edu.au for any other questions.
Pre-Learning Information
We are very excited to share Culture College’s Pre-Learning Information about the Midawarr Program for 2023. Please take your time to familiarise yourself with this and connect with your young person about the purpose of the Yr 9 Camp in Arnhem Land via this document.
