Year 8
Welcome Back!
It was wonderful to see Yr 8 students back on Wednesday this week. There were lots of smiles, everyone looked excellent in their winter uniform and all haircuts were appropriate and well-styled.
I am hopeful that the break provided some time for rest and reflection as we move into Term 2 as a new set of goals are set for navigating the middle of the academic year.
ANZAC Day Ceremony
On Wednesday morning, students from Yrs 7 – 11 acknowledged the contributions of those who served and currently serve in the armed forces in a special ceremony in Dunnet Hall.
Thank you to Yr 8 student Alice Franceschi who beautifully read the ‘Prayer for Peace’ as part of the reflections during the ceremony.
In Your Skin
Over the next three weeks Yr 8 students will be taking part in the In Your Skin program created by Dr Tessa Opie. This program is designed to promote positive language and culture around sexuality and encourage positive, healthy relationships.
The website for the external provider is available here if you are interested.
During Tutor Time there will be a number of lead-in sessions which challenge students’ perceptions of the language they use to describe sexuality and relationships. There will then be a half-day workshop on Thursday 11th May led by In Your Skin.
Upcoming Events
We have a number of significant events during the term which include:
- Week 3 – Thursday 11 May – In Your Skin
- Week 4 – 5 – Coaching Conversations
- Week 7 – Thursday 8 June – Athletics Carnival
