Melbourne Universities Tour
During the break, 21 students from Yr 11 and 12 attended the Melbourne Universities Tour with the Careers Advisors, Mrs Fowler and Ms Hurst, and the Yr 12 Year Advisor Mr Walker. This was a fantastic opportunity to visit Melbourne University, RMIT and to tour three of Melbourne University’s residential colleges. This experience has given our students an opportunity to be better informed when making decisions about their next steps after school.
One of the highlights was talking to Redlands Alumni currently studying in Melbourne and hearing about their experiences. Our Yr 12s in particular appreciated being able to speak to students they knew from the Class of 2022 and seeing that there is ‘light at the end of the tunnel” as they approach the end of Yr 12.
We appreciated Melbourne culture at the Melbourne Comedy Festival and excellent pastries from a laneway cafe. The experience also gave students the opportunity step up and gain the independence that is required when moving out of home to a new city. Congratulations to Anneka Steele who navigated the whole group on the tram from our hotel to Ormond College!
Thank you to Mr Walker for his excellent guidance on the Tour, and for providing an apt name for the Impromptunes’ impromptu musical: Chicken Wings!
Thank you to all the students who represented Redlands and were engaged and professional throughout the tour.
Yr 12 Information
UAC
UAC is now open for all Yr 12 students to start their applications. (IB students were previously told they had to wait until August but this has now been rectified by UAC.) Applications are not due until 29 September.
Yr 12 UAC guides will be distributed to students this term.
ANU Early Applications close 15 May
Do not leave it to the last minute to complete the required forms (Cocurricular form required for all students, Supplementary Assessment form also required for IB students).
University Clinical Aptitude Test (UCAT)
UCAT is an admissions test required for entry into most medical, dental and some clinical sciences degree programs. Students interested in these courses need to check the course description to see if the course they’re interested in requires them to sit UCAT. Bookings for UCAT close at midnight on 17 May.
UNSW Law Admission Test (LAT)
LAT is used for selection into UNSW Bachelor of Laws degrees. For students interested in studying law at UNSW, there will be an information evening on Friday 3 May.
