Junior Sport
All fixtures this week are as per the original draw except for our Yr 3/4 Basketball A team, whose match is now at 9.30am at Price Courts, Kings Preparatory School.
Cricket
Our cricketers went down in their first match of traditional Cricket, but not without a great fight and the signs are there for some strong cricket. Our lads batted out the 25 overs and showed great energy in the field. Ben Barwise led the team admirably scoring a gritty 30, wicket keeping with great aplomb and then taking wickets with great regularity in his bowling stint. Having played against Shore last weekend, the team now takes on St Andrews this week.
Basketball
Our Yr 3 and 4 basketballers enjoyed the intimate confines of Lang Gymnasium last weekend against a very tough Scots opposition. Our youngsters pushed the bigger Scots boys all the way showing great tenacity and determination despite getting behind early on the scoreboard. The A team battled intently and came away with a hard fought win, which should set them up for a strong finish to the year.
In a wonderful display of leading by example, Harrie Taylor knocked down a season high 19 points last weekend in the F team win.
Before school training will continue whilst our teams are playing Saturday fixtures – Basketball training this Friday 2 November will be on Redlands House Court as Dunnet Hall is hosting the IPSHA Conference.
2019 Term 1 Sports Choices
Even though it feels as though our season is just getting into gear, we are starting to plan for 2019 Term 1 Sport. Keep your eyes peeled for an email in the coming weeks with a link into Trybooking for 2019 Term 1 Junior School Sports choices.
Surf Education
Please check your online permission for the upcoming Surf Education program. Students from Yrs 3-6 will be attending Surf Education lessons as part of the PE Curriculum in Weeks 4 and 5. As we are entering the Sydney summer it’s a great chance for students to be reminded of safety on the beach and in the water. The kids will be under the instruction of Surf Live Saving, will be undertaking a range of rescues, water danger identification, basic first aid and some fun beach games. The program this year is being administered at Freshwater beach with a new surf tuition provider. It looks like it’ll be awesome.
Photos
We love photos and showing off your great action shots from sports fixtures on Saturday. If anyone has any pics or takes any, I love to use them to showcase our current teams and past teams on the rolling display in Dunnet Hall. Please send me the pics, or a link or even pop them in on a USB (it will be returned) to the Sports Office or email them.
