Believe it or not, it is time for this cohort to order their Yr 12 Jerseys! Students have been trying them on during Tutor these last few weeks to ensure they are ordering the correct size. Students have been asked to submit their size preference and their last name in all capital letters through a Google Form in the iLearn Yr 11 Pastoral Page Announcements. Parents are asked to provide payment information through Flexischools.

Yr 11 Language Students Celebrate Harmony Day at the Junior School
Yr 11 IB Spanish students visited the Junior School last week to support their Spanish Lunch event, as part of Harmony Week. They served paella and churros to the Years 3-6 students, whilst also giving them the opportunity to practise their Spanish. ¡Qué aproveche!
Reflections from Yr 11 French students:
“Today, in our French B class, we helped out at the Prep School for their Harmony Day celebrations. As a class we served Years K-2 “pains au chocolat” and “du lait au chocolat” (chocolate milk) to celebrate French culture. We also got to practise speaking French to the younger students and their teachers. It was really fun to see all of the primary kids dressed up in cute stereotypical French clothes and accessories (lots of the boys had drawn on fake moustaches and the girls wore bérets).” Sabine Murray
“It was a great experience and good fun to see all the little kids get involved in French culture – they had different outfits, some with football jerseys and others with bérets. Students were having lots of fun, as were we, serving typical French food and drink to everyone.” Arya Gapaillard
“The Junior School is certainly smaller than when I was there last. I joined Redlands in 2016 in Yr 4 and have fond memories of each Harmony Day being fed cultural dishes from all over the world. This year, as a Yr 11, going back and being the “big kid” handing out food was a novel experience and seeing the chocolate coated Kindy to Yr 2 students stumbling over “S’il vous plaît ” and “merci” made me very thankful for the continuation of French at Redlands.” Sebastian Speziali
“The Prep School students greeted us wearing French colours and clothing which symbolised the small but widespread community of French speakers in Australia.” Marianne Baudin
“During our French class today, we visited the Prep School for their Harmony Day celebrations. Our class was instructed to speak and talk with the Kindergarten, Yr 1 and Yr 2 students. The Prep students were dressed up as ‘traditional’ French people, and we served them ‘traditional’ French food and drinks for everyone.” Zara Clement
“We spent recess handing out food while wearing French colours and flags and we spoke a few words to students in French. It was quite cute to see them hesitantly walk up to us while wearing their berets and drawn-on moustaches. The best part for me was getting to see the kids and their friends walk up in tight pairs or groups and push each other to the front for who was going to go first talking to us. It made me realise that I am now one of those older kids I was so intimidated by when I was their age, which was a very nostalgic experience.” Emilie Leroux
“We gave chocolatines and chocolate milk to all of the kids from Kindy to Yr 2 and their reactions were priceless. The insane amount of shy little merci’s was hilarious and we were all happy to help them out with Harmony Day.” Max Rossiter
Forbes Fundraiser
A Message from Yr 11 – As some of you may know Forbes is a small town in NSW, neighbouring Lismore, which went through dire levels of flooding last year. They have slowly been recovering from flood levels reaching a 70 year record!! The environment is devastated and the community is still in desperate need of some assistance from those who can help.
We are setting up a drive for the last week of school and continuing into next term, so please bring in anything you can manage and it will go a long way!!
Items to include could be:
seedlings
canned goods
non-perishable foods
notebooks and school supplies
cutlery, utensils, frypans, cutting boards, bowls
financial aid
first aid kits
clothing
sewing items
tools (old hammers)
We will have boxes set up every morning at the front and back gates in Wk 10 or under the gym throughout the day.
Thank you everyone in advance for the consideration and donations!
Epilepsy Awareness and Fundraiser at Battle of the Bands Monday Night!
Last Sunday, 26 March, was Epilepsy Awareness Day. The day was created to increase the public’s understanding of what happens in the brain for someone with Epilepsy and to eliminate the fear and stigma surrounding it. As we have several students at Redlands with Epilepsy, Yr 11 will be hosting a Bake Sale on Monday evening during Battle of the Bands to shine a light on the bravery and resilience of people with Epilepsy as it can be quite scary living with the fear and anxiety around epileptic seizures. All proceeds will be donated to Epilepsy Australia. The aim of this initiative is to reduce the stigma surrounding Epilepsy and to educate people on how they can help someone having a seizure and maybe save someone’s life.
On Monday afternoon from 5pm to 6pm, there will be a Bake Sale in the John Roberts Foyer before the Battle of the Bands. Money from this bake sale will go towards Epilepsy Australia. Yr 11 can get involved by baking an item for the Bake Sale, purchasing an item at the Bake Sale or contributing their time on Monday evening running the Bake Sale. A sign-up is open to them on the Yr 11 iLearn Pastoral Page. It is also a great opportunity to support peers who are performing Monday evening! Alongside the Bake Sale, Yr 11 students Halcyon Hunt, Lara Wilson and Winter Penney will also be giving out free temporary tattoos, magnets, and more!
