Camp Reflections

We had a wonderful week up in Yarrahapinni on the mid-North Coast.

During Tutor this week, students completed a reflection on their camp experience and below are a few excerpts of student responses..

  1. Moments you would like to remember.
  • Surfing, biking, canoeing (Noah J.)
  • Stargazing every night on the ground (Juliet W.)
  • Oreos at night, break from parents and good fun with the leader (Kingston M.)
  • The biggest Ultimate Frisbee tournament, passing the unicorn into everyone’s canoe and the great view of the beaches on the last day (Sam A.)
  • Gossip tent, Mr De Vries v Finnamex rap battle, seeing dolphins when canoeing and surfing (Melissa F.)
  1. One of your group’s triumphs – big or small.
  • Getting up to watch the sunrise (George D.)
  • Completing the hike (Tom B.)
  • One of our group’s achievements is when we got to the top of the 14 or 15 km hike and most of it was up quite a few steep hills. (Zoe T.)
  1. One of your groups’ challenges: big or small.
  • Getting up the steep hill pushing really hard to get to the top (Eva B.)
  • One of my group’s challenges is how we changed campsites every day and had to set up/take down our tent every morning/afternoon. (Daniel B.)
  • Harry eating Fava beans and dealing with the consequences  (Max M.)
  1. One thing you have learned from your triumph or challenge.
  • Things that can take ages go fast when you are having fun (Byron M. on hiking)
  • I am capable of doing big hikes with a heavy bag on my back.(Chase H.)
  • I learnt that if you take your waterproof cover off the tent cools down (Maritsa R.)
  1. What are some new skills you have learned?
  • I can pick up a full hiking bag with my pinky (Hugo C.)
  • How to cut a cucumber (Ben W.)
  • i learnt how to set up a tent and how to hike properly (Maddie D.)
  1. What did you learn from the camp leaders?
  • Nature makes you happy (Lewis D.)
  • Wilderness skills and the importance of teamwork (Sasha R.)

ISA Swimming Carnival

Yesterday the ISA Swimming Carnival was held. There were a number of Yr 8 students involved including; Alice Franceschi, Sebastien Okhovat, Beau Potter, Amelie Swann, William Thomason and Tara Ward.

The overall results were:

Division 2 Girls 
Juniors (U12-U14) – 1st 
Intermediate (U15-U16) – 2nd 
Seniors (U17-U19) – 1st 
Overall – 1st 

Division 1 Boys 
Juniors (U12-U14) – 9th
Intermediate (U15-U16) – 7th
Seniors (U17-U19) – 5th
Overall – 9th 

Upcoming Events

We have a a number of significant events in the first part of the term which include:

  • Week 8 – Thursday – Saturday – School Musical
  • Week 9 – Monday – Cross Country Carnival
