Week 8 Harmony Week

Our society is a huge melting pot of colour, flavour, and diversity. Harmony Day, which is observed each year on 21 March, celebrates this diversity, aiming to foster inclusiveness, respect, and the idea that people of all different cultures can make a valuable contribution to society.
At Redlands we will be celebrating the wonders of diversity and inclusivity all week. Prep students will be treated to a performance by the Taikoz drummers on Monday, enjoy a French breakfast on Tuesday and participate in many activities throughout the week in their classes.
Orange is the worldwide colour chosen to represent Harmony Week. Traditionally orange signifies social communication and meaningful conversations. It also relates to the freedom of ideas and encouragement of mutual respect. Redlands students are encouraged to wear ‘a touch of orange’ on Monday and on Tuesday, a touch of blue, red and/or white can be worn to celebrate our French breakfast.
Keep an eye on our Prep Reception display board next week as we celebrate Harmony Week in the Prep School.
Week 8 Parent and Teacher Learning Conversations
A reminder for Prep parents to book in your times for Week 8 learning conversations with class teachers by the end of the week. Learning conversations provide a snapshot of your child’s learning to date, but most importantly, the where to next in their learning journey. Teachers will also spend time unpacking the social and emotional development of your child, this is where some shared strategies can be discussed to develop a common language and approach between school and home.
We do hope that you find the sessions helpful.
If you would like to discuss your child’s development in Music, PE, French or Christian Studies, please email the relevant specialist directly to book a time. These areas of learning are just as important as the learning that happens with classroom teachers, so I do encourage you to have these conversations.
Early Bird offers for April Holiday Code Camp Classes
Code Camp is on again and will run two holiday classes from 19-21 April. These camps are only for Redlands students and run at Redlands.

With so many fun activities planned, we would love some parent volunteers to come in and help us throughout the day. The students will rotate around games and arts and crafts activities. There will be delicious food available at lunchtime followed by a dance and musical performance.
If you can spare an hour or two on Tuesday 4 April during the times below, please email me directly. Thank you.
8.30am-10.30am – Session 1

Prep Ninja Skipping Challenge
A message from Ms Longworth.
For the remainder of this term, we have invited the Prep School students to participate in the Prep ninja skipping challenge.
All students start at the white belt and when they can complete the number of skips in a row, they can progress to the next belt. As they work their way up the belts, students can write their name on the ninja boards in the Prep playground. House points and prizes will be handed out at the end of the challenge.
This challenge is designed to promote active fun!
Students will improve their skipping skills, improve their health, work on perseverance, and we want them to just have fun with their friends!
Skipping ropes can be used before school, at recess and lunchtime. They are available near Friendship Club.
Drop off Information
It is wonderful to have parents and carers in our playground each morning. A precious time to connect and catch up. Parents are reminded to please exit the campus when the bell goes to help the transitioning of our students into their day. A final wave or a quick peek through the windows is tempting, but this can disrupt the morning routine.
A gentle reminder that if families do arrive after the bell, please say goodbye to your child or leave the property you are dropping off in the Reception area. Mrs Hunt or Mrs Alfonso will walk your child to their room or take the property to rooms. This again will reduce disruption and allow for smooth transitioning throughout the day.
