  The Addams Family – Musical

Only one week to go until our opening night! The Dress Run was excellent. We are so proud of the contribution and dedication everyone has shown as we move to the end of the process.

Important Dates

  • Week 8: Production Week at The Concourse: Wednesday 22 March – Saturday 25 March

Production Week

  • Production Week information letters are available on iLearn and Pulse/Engage.
  • Please ensure permissions are granted for the production week.
  • The detailed production schedule will be published on ilearn. This will provide a detailed breakdown of the schedule in the theatre.
  • Reminder to not be late in the morning when catching the Redlands buses. It is crucial that we get to the theatre on time.

Show Week Transport

As with other major events, such as the Swimming Carnival, we request that students travel on the bus from Redlands to the Concourse to ensure adequate supervision by Redlands staff. The Concourse staff are not able to supervise students arriving at various times without a Redlands teacher present. On the rehearsal and show nights, Wednesday 22 March – Saturday 25 March there will no buses returning to school. Students must be collected each night from STAGE DOOR (located on Anderson Street) by their parents. Those who are carpooling are requested to email permission for their child to travel with a friend’s parent to drama@redlands.nsw.edu.au by Sunday 19 March. Students may not leave unaccompanied or drive themselves to or from the theatre.

Show Week Clothing

Students are permitted to wear a Musical T-shirt and full blacks OR Full School Uniform on Wednesday 22 March & Thursday 23 March (ALL STUDENTS -Technical & Dress Rehearsals at the Concourse). ALL Students are to move straight to the bus in Full School Uniform on Friday afternoon at 3.20pm promptly.

Important Costume Note

Your costume bag is your responsibility. Please familiarise yourself with each item the first time you take your bag(s).

  • Please ensure you are wearing appropriate footwear and underwear.
  • Keep your costume pieces together and always make sure everything is accounted for and placed in bags before you leave each day.
  • DO NOT EAT while you are in your costume. Either remove your costume or cover it up with your light dressing gown.
  • Costumes should also be covered with your dressing gown whilst you are in ‘Makeup’
  • If something does happen to your costume, tell the costume team immediately. Things happen – zips break, hems fall, buttons come off but tell the costume team as soon as possible, so it can be repaired.

Catering in Production Week

This year, students will not be catered for during Production Week. This is to reduce the amount of cross-contamination and appropriate handling of food between all students and staff. This means the appropriate amount of food must be packed during Production Week to last students for the entire day and night.

Rehearsal Reminders

  • Be prompt to all rehearsals.
  • Bring water and food to all rehearsals
  • Please be aware that Redlands has a “Nut-free” policy.
  • Bring scripts, librettos & pencils to all rehearsals.
  • Wear appropriate attire to Friday & Sunday rehearsals eg Redlands Drama or Dance attire or sports uniform.

Theatresports Performance Evening

Theatresports challenges performers to create instant theatre through set games based entirely on improvisation. The result is a spontaneous, team-based performance which promotes a highly supportive environment, that’s also a lot of fun!  The energetic and unpredictable style of Theatresports is judged on three different criteria:  Technique, Narrative, and Entertainment and all of this performed to a time limit.

It’s going to be a high energy, highly entertaining night of wacky characters in sticky situations. We’d also like to welcome the Year 7 students who will be joining our competition for the first time. We hope you can join us for the Theatresports Competition Performance evening.

Yr 10 Curriculum Performance Evening

We are excited to announce that we have our first curriculum performance evening of 2023 coming up very soon. The event will take place across two evenings and is free to attend. You are invited to join us for A Night With Shakespeare. As part of the half yearly examination, Year 10 students will perform a collection of scenes from different Shakespearean plays. From Romeo and Juliet, to Macbeth, there truly is something for everyone.

Year 10 have been working incredibly hard on their scenes and cannot wait to perform for you. Details are as follows:

Date: Thursday 27 April and Friday 28 April

Time: 6:30pm

Where: Drama Studio (R15)
