Sport Calendar

We have a Sport Calendar for each Term. To view the 2023 Term 2 Sports Calendar please click here

This calendar is regularly updated and provides all the key dates for you for school sport, carnivals and major events.

Athletics Carnival

Well done to all students who participated in our carnival today in warmer than usual conditions. With a modified format and additional measures in place, we were able to hold our second major carnival at SOPAC at Homebush. Credit to all students for their enthusiasm and participation both in the stands with war cries and cheering and on the track.

There was some great House spirit being demonstrated throughout the day.

With the entrant number system student used in conjunction with the timing gates and photo finish, students were able to see their times and overall rankings on the digital score board after they finished their race which is excellent feedback. Thanks to those Year 6 students who assisted here.

New Record

Congratulations to our new record holder, who will receive a certificate of commendation at our Sports Prizegiving Day next term:

  • Jake O’Sullivan – Under 12 Boys 200m

A big thank you the way all students looked on the day. Everyone got to wear the House race bibs this year when participating in track events. The ability to identify their peers representing their house from the grandstand really added to the carnival atmosphere.

With Cowper winning the carnival for five years in a row and Roseby breaking that streak last year, there was a huge reaction when Dumolo were announced winner for the 2023 Athletics Carnival. Congratulations to Dumolo House on their win for 2023, led by Daisy Nassar and Harrison Bird who captained the winning House on the day.

Mr Sharma will be in touch with those students who have qualified for the Redlands Athletics Team who will compete at HCIES late next term. For those students who had intended to run in the 800m and 1500m on the day, which were cancelled due to heat, the plan is such that students who finish top 2 in their age group in our school Cross Country Carnival will be eligible for 1500m selection to run at the HCIES Athletics Carnival as long as they are close to the HICES guide time. Students who would like to be eligible to compete in the 800m will be asked to submit their 800m times from their little Athletics Associations. Of course, there may be students who are eligible for qualification and consideration who may not wish to run the 800m and or 1500m at HICES Athletics and this is fine
