Music

Have yourself a Merry little Christmas!

This season is one of rich celebration as we find the culmination of another year of learning tying itself up in a musical bow! This week alone we have had our hearts warmed by the beautiful singing of our Redlands House and Transition Gold students in their We Can Sing a Rainbow concert; Junior Carols featuring our Choirs & Jazz Band on Tuesday; Rock in the Quad & Rock in the Garden resounded across both campuses  today; and tomorrow Senior Carols is another rite that tolls the imminent arrival of our summer break!

Next week’s Year 6 Graduation, final assemblies, Prep Presentation and Junior & Senior Speech Day events will provide even further opportunity for our students to share their glorious music with our community!

Seeing our Redlands students rightly proud of their achievements and shining as musicians in all of these end of year events firmly remains part of my ‘why’ as an educator. I am certain our community will continue to enjoy the musical offerings of our students in the week ahead.

Wishing you a safe and utterly refreshing break.

Thank you for a wonderful 2022!

Amy Richardson | Director of Music P-12

Redlands House & Transition Gold Concert

Congratulations to all of Redlands House and Transition Gold for their wonderful concert yesterday in Dunnet Hall. They dazzled us with their beautiful singing voices with dazzling actions, singing I can sing a rainbow  followed by Blue Class singing the delights of The Deep Blue Sea where we met Mark the Shark and his friends singing about how happy they are just being themselves.

Next we had Madame Haverhals’ French classes singing L’arc-en-ciel with an amazing introduction by Jude introducing the song completely in French! Yellow class sang the song Mister Sun and shared how they love playing outside under the golden rays.

Orange class followed with a favourite song at Redlands called ‘Wash your face with orange juice’ which is one that mums and dads may know as Mr Clickety Cane.  It is funny to clean your teeth with bubble gum. It is unusual to fry your egg on a slippery dip. But it is crazy to belly flop on a pizza.

Transition Gold shared how you get to the end of the rainbow by jumping or digging so that you find at the end of the rainbow…a pot of Gold!

Our final song from Redlands House reminded us to live in harmony,  look after the world around us and how important it is to be kind to each other with one of our favourite songs Rainbow, Trees and Tambourines.

Thank you to all the teachers, parents and carers for your help and support for making our concert  so wonderful.

Rock in the Quad! Rock in the Garden!

Congrats to all performers in today’s epic Rock in the Quad (Senior) & Rock in the Garden (Junior) concerts! Performances were loved by the hyped masses and

Junior Carols

Christmas Carols filled the  Junior Campus Carols Service last Tuesday with Jazz Band and tutors accompanying some of our favourites like Joy to the world and We Three Kings led by the Junior Choir. Junior Voices performed Carol of the Bells in a wonderful 3 part arrangement!

Senior Carols

Senior School Carols Service (dubbed Fahl-lalala!) is on tomorrow in the Fahl Garden led by soloists from the Senior Choir and accompanied by Concert Bands, String Ensembles and Tutor bands!  Brace yourself for some serious festive fun! Phones (responsibly used) will be permitted for the Carols event for the purpose of reading song words!

Extracurricular Music

2023 Private Tuition

A reminder that all our tuition – ensembles, bands, lessons, etc – automatically roll over from year to year.  Should your child wish to discontinue their Private Instrumental lessons in 2023, please complete the Notice of Change Form on the Music Pulse pages no later than Wednesday 7 December to avoid late notice charges in the new year. This greatly assists us in supporting our casual workforce with work and income guarantees, and we thank you for your assistance to this end.

If interested to know more about Private Tuition or if you think 2023 might be the year that you explore one of our Bands, Choirs, Ensembles and enrichment classes, please reach out to your respective Music Office to enrol via Pulse

Senior Music Locker Clean-out

The time has come to clean out your instrument locker and take all your belongings home for the holidays (dirty socks and crumpled sheets of music included)! The combination padlock must be returned to our Administrator, Ms Hales in person so that she can:

  1. Check your locker is empty and clean;
  2. Mark your name off the list;
  3. Reset the padlock code (NB: this cannot be done without your existing code, so leaving the padlock on the desk means the lock will not be able to be reused.)

Students who do not return the padlock to reception in person by the end of next Tuesday 6 December will be charged $50 to cover a replacement lock, and will not be given priority when allocations are made for instrument locker hire in the new year.

Senior Music Locker Hire in 2023

Please note that instrument locker hire does not rollover to next year and we will be starting from scratch, so if you would like to be allocated a locker again in 2023, please fill in the INSTRUMENT LOCKER HIRE FORM 2023 to be added to the waitlist, and we will contact you when a suitable locker is available for your use.
