Head of Secondary School

As we travel through the penultimate week of Term 3, the Secondary Students continue to amaze us with their talents and skills. Our Yr 12 students have commenced their final week of school! Yr 11 students are receiving back their recent examinations and analysing feedback in order to set future goals and make decisions about Yr 12 study. They are also readying themselves for Leadership announcements and Camp in the first week of Term 4. Yr 10 and Yr 9 have also been submitting their final assessments before the examination blocks and Camps in Term 4. Yr 7 and 8 are flying through the end of this term, submitting final assessment tasks and receiving feedback for learning experiences submitted earlier in the term. This week, I had some fun with Yr 8 who spent some time in their English lesson self-assessing their multimodal task using a marking criteria, before the results were released on iLearn. Next term our Stage 4 students will be sitting a slightly modified examination schedule with the aim of supporting them to develop study and revision skills leading up to, and during, an examination period. We know this can often be a daunting prospect for Yr 7 and 8, and our Dean of Students, Ms Anna Rolon, has been working collaboratively with Yr Advisors, Ms Sarah Matthews and Ms Lucienne Willis, in order to schedule a block of exams with build-in study periods and learning time.

There seem to be a lot of amateur student filmographers on campus at the moment. Our Yr 12 students have been compiling memories to share in their final days of school, and our Yr 10 students have had fun making a short positive film for their cohort.

Ms Ynson and Ms Boase challenged Yr 10 to step up and express what they believed the Yr 10 cohort need to hear and experience at this time in the term.  A few students chose to create a video to provide inspiration and focus for Yr 10 as they prepare to enter the senior years of school. We’d love to share it with you here.

This is an outstanding achievement! The students have been working very hard in the past weeks and these prestigious wins are a testament to their diligence.
