Year 9
Holidays
With the holidays not too far away, it is worth considering how the change in routine can affect our teens. Parents and carers will possibly be juggling work and caring commitments which often leaves teens with more than usual downtime. Some children are not good at reaching out to peers for social connection and can find themselves online watching a plethora of content. This loss in routine, can affect student wellbeing. Regular exercise, regular healthy meals and a consistent bedtime can be positive strategies to ensure that wellbeing is preserved. Helping children to plan connection time with friends can ensure that they have social opportunities to look forward to. Relaxation, meditation and breathing techniques are positive techniques that can reduce anxious tendencies and enhance wellbeing. A small amount of planning prior to the long holiday break can pay great dividends to ensure that children remain happy and connected.
