HSC Practical Examinations
We wish our Yr 12 HSC Music 1 & 2 students all the very best as they head into their external practicals across Weeks 8 & 9. You’ve worked hard, and we are confident that as you focus on making your best music on the day, the rest will fall into place. Cheering for you!
AMEB Examinations
We commenced the current round of practical AMEB exams on Monday and would like to wish all candidates the very best in their preparations. From Preliminary grade to Certificate of Music, we have a total of 58 students doing a practical exam in September (not to mention dozens of musicianship exams across the year too!) We also acknowledge the enormous efforts of Mrs Jacqueline McGlade for making the arrangements for the exams and our wonderful team of tutors who prepare our students so well for these opportunities.
Spotlight on Yr 5 Curriculum Music
This term Yr 5 are immersing themselves in the ‘Create and Sing’ Carmen experience from the Royal Opera House in London. Students are learning the art of expressive singing, are exploring the dramatic world of opera and are consolidating ensembles skills of singing together and telling a story through song. With a focus on three songs from Bizet’s opera Carmen (Habanera, Toreador and Children’s Chorus) students are enjoying the deep dive into the wonderful world of Opera!
Term 3 Composition Focus
Our Yr 12 composers are in the final stages of producing their final NESA / IB composition recordings, and Yrs 8-10 Music elective students are bringing their composition assessments home in Week 8, with some exciting explorations happening in the realms of Australian, Romantic & 20th/21st Century music styles.
On the theme of Composition in Term 3, we thank all those who submitted songs and works for consideration for the Redlands EP 2023! The panel are delighted by the record number of submissions and are busily making the hard decisions as to whose marvellous composition will win the prize of being Studio Recorded / Produced for release in 2023!
