Yr 12 Legacy Gift

To celebrate their time at Redlands, Yr 12 students have proudly raised funds for their Legacy Gift. Each cohort supports a cause close to their heart to be remembered by the school community.

Long Tradition

Leaving a Legacy Gift to the School has been a long standing tradition for Yr 12 students at Redlands, proudly bestowing a gift and commemorating their time at the School. For example in 2016 students raised funds to acknowledge their classmate and created a perpetual award, the Alexandra Scott Memorial Sports Award for Teamwork and Sportsmanship (further details below). In 2019 students raised funds to support the Peter Lennox Scholarship acknowledging the legacy of retiring Principal at that time, Dr Peter Lennox, for his service to Redlands.

Letter from Yr 12 students to Redlands Community

2022 has been a wonderful year. As a cohort, we have built strength, determination and resilience and greatly appreciated being back on campus! We are grateful for the supportive community we are a part of, here at Redlands. However long we have been connected to the Redlands community, we know our time has been memorable and has equipped us well to head off into the world at the end of this year.

 Our Gift, Our Legacy

To celebrate our time at Redlands, and to thank the School for its support, encouragement and opportunities offered to us as a year group, we are proud to announce the Class of 2022 Legacy Gift. We have decided to support the means-tested Redlands Foundation Scholarship Fund, to honour Dr Sue Morey AM who graduated from Redlands in 1959 and dedicated over 50 years of service to public health in Australia and continue a legacy of previous cohorts.

Why the Redlands Foundation Scholarship Fund?

This endowment fund provides opportunities to exceptional all-rounder students, who otherwise may not be able to attend Redlands. Currently, the fund has assets to provide four full-time scholarships, with a long-term goal to grant one means-tested full-time scholarship in the Secondary School annually.

Contributing to the Redlands Scholarship Fund, as our Legacy Gift, gives us great pride and fulfilment. Knowing this initiative supports a dedicated fund to provide a student with the opportunity to experience Redlands, as we have been fortunate enough to, is a Legacy Gift we believe is worthwhile and ongoing.

Please join us today

We are inviting the entire Redlands community to support us in our fundraising efforts. We appreciate your support in our final year, as we come to the end of our Redlands journey. If you wish to join us, please purchase one, or more, of our ‘Class of 2022’ portrait tea towels and/or tote bags or contribute directly to the Scholarship Fund. Legacy Gift of Class of 2016 – Alexandra Scott Award

The Alexandra Scott Award was created and donated to the School by the Class of 2016. It is a perpetual award given to a graduating student who has demonstrated extraordinary Teamwork and Sportsmanship. The Honour Board is currently located in the Lang Gym and lists the names of those who have received the award since its endowment.

Alexandra Scott was a member of this Year Group until Yr 8, when she was no longer able to attend the school after sustaining a serious injury in a skiing accident. At the cohort’s five year reunion earlier this year, Alex’s mother shared a written update which was read out by one of her close friends who maintains close contact with Alex.
