Redlands Ballet and Dance Academy Annual End of Year Performance

All students of the Redlands Ballet and Dance Academy, Kindergarten – Year 12, are invited to take part in our End of Year Performance which will be presented to family and friends at The Concourse, Chatswood on Thursday 17 and Friday 18 November.

On 17 November you will get the chance to see two world premieres. The first piece is Pictures at an Exhibition curated by Gilly Revie and choreographed by Academy Teachers for Kindergarten-Year 6. This piece will bring Redlands Dance and Visual Art together through the collaboration of the Junior Visual Arts cocurricular syllabus. Then our Seniors will present Twelve Days of Christmas which has also been curated by Gilly Revie with a mixture of works choreographed by Academy Teachers and repertoire based on dances from famous ballets such as La Fille Mal Gardee, Nutcracker and Swan Lake.

On the 18  November the evening begins with a Grand Défilé (literally translated as Big Parade) arranged and choreographed by Kim Traynor and presenting all senior ballet dancers. Act 2 takes you on a Journey of Dance from Folk dancing to the Charleston, from Disco to Hip Hop and will include works by IB and HSC Curriculum dancers. The evening closes with Twelve Days of Christmas.

So, a lot of hard work and preparation is required from everyone during Term 3 to ensure a wonderful experience for all. Students will be given further information over the next few weeks regarding storylines and casting, and we would like you to put the following dates in the diary for our extra rehearsals during Semester 2.

Sunday 18 September: School Performance Rehearsals (Seniors)

Sunday 4 – Wednesday 7 October: Holiday School Performance Rehearsals (All Year Groups)

Sunday 16 October: School Performance Rehearsals (Seniors)

Sunday 6 November: School Performance Rehearsals (All Year Groups)

Monday 7 – Friday 11 November: After School Rehearsals (All Year Groups – except Year 10, on camp)

Saturday 12 November: School Performance Rehearsals (All Year Groups)

Sunday 13 November: Dress Rehearsal at Parkes Hall (All Year Groups)

School Holiday Workshop

Changes to Holiday School Timetable

Private Lessons

Senior Ballet Performers

Compulsory Rehearsal: 9.30am -1pm on Sunday 24 July at Parkes Hall

Failure to attend this rehearsal will result in a complete withdrawal from the competition.
