Junior School Swimming Carnival 

Our annual Junior School Swimming carnival, postponed from Term 1 took place at Sydney Olympic Park Aquatic Centre on Wednesday. In the second of our big 3 carnivals there was much excitement leading up to the first race, our youngest swimmers being the Under 8 and Under 9 25m and 50m Freestyle event. It was very exciting to see these students participate in their first Junior School Carnival.

Knowing the carnivals can be long for spectators, children and adults in the stands were kept entertained by some dancing competitions with various playlists. It was great to see our war cry competitions make a return at this carnival having being unable to host it last year due to COVID singing restrictions.

With the continuation of the entrant number system this year we can track the participation rate of all houses as well as being able to provide feedback to students across their age groups in the strokes they entered.

The class relays in the 25m pool, organised by the teachers and in some cases the students themselves proved to be a hit with some fierce rivalry between the classes. Thank you to the parents and families who attended who travelled out Homebush to support the carnival as well as our House Captains and Sport Captains, for whom this was their first carnival as leaders at an all-day event.

Congratulations to Cowper House who won the House cup. Congratulations to Cowper House Captains Josh Svensson and Georgia Grace who led their team to victory and got to raise the cup in victory for 2022.

Age Champions Swimming 2022

Congratulations to the following students who were named and presented age champion and runner up on the day. Individual points were tallied from 50m championship events only (excluding relays).

Winning House

1st Place           Cowper 1396 points

2nd Place          Dumolo 1346 points

3rd Place          Roseby 1331 points

4^th Place           McDouall 981 points

Spirit House Award

Prior to the carnival, students were informed that a House would be selected, regardless of the overall winner, who demonstrated outstanding spirit and support throughout the carnival. We had dance off competitions, dress up, as well as our war cry competition. Our chief Judge Ms Reinhold tallied points throughout the day. Despite having numerous students swimming in events, the winning house was McDouall House.

The following overall points were for House Spirit:

1st Place McDouall 250 points  

2nd Place Roseby 150 points 

3rd Place Dumolo 100 points  

4th Place Cowper 50 points
