Senior Swimming Carnival Results
Well done to all the Yr 11 students who attended and participated in the Senior Swimming Carnival last Thursday at the Sydney International Aquatic Centre. It was great to see so many of the cohort embrace House spirit and support one another throughout the day. It was also pleasing to see many of our Year 11 students jump in the pool and compete in multiple events. The carnival gave a good insight as to which students were keen to become future House Captains in 2023.
Congratulations to the following students who received Age Champion and Runners Up Champion
- U17 Boys Age Champion: Sam Chubb & Simone Francesci (shared)
- U17 Runners Up Champion: Loch Wilding
- U17 Girls Age Champion: Orabella Cornelius
- U17 Girls Runners Up Age Champion: Isabella Havryk
Special mention to Loch Wilding who broke the long-standing Senior Boys 50m Butterfly record in a swift time of 26.66. Congratulations Loch!
Special mention also to Roseby Red Tutor, Ms Ellie Dalton, McDouall Blue Tutor, Mr Fabian Byrne, Roseby White Tutor and Mr Jimmy Tod-Hil who competed in the Staff vs Students 10 x 50m Freestyle relay. All Tutors had big swims and were given loud applause as soon as they dived into the pool!
Senior Athletics Carnival
Next Tuesday, the Senior Athletics Carnival is taking place at Sydney Olympic Park. Yr 11 will need to meet in the Liggins quad at 7am to get there names marked off. It would be wonderful to see lots of participation by Yr 11 and attendance on the day. For students running for leadership positions early next term, this is a great opportunity to see Year 11 fully involved in a fun, full-school community event.
Friday Arvo Athletics Training
Friday arvo Athletics Training takes place every Friday afternoon at Balmoral Oval from 3:30-5pm. The training sessions run by Mosman Athletics Club, are open to all levels of ability and give students the opportunity to focus on the fundamentals of running which can be used for other sports and it is also a great mindfulness activity that allows students to switch off from their studies after a big week and socially connect with each other. Sprints, Middle Distance, Jumps and Throws are on offer to students who attend the training. Training will continue until the end of term and throughout all of Term 3. With the Athletics Carnival coming up next Tuesday, this is a good opportunity to learn or refine new skills for any of the Athletics events. If your child is interested in training, please email Mr. Cam Ellis (cellis@redlands.nsw.edu.au).
