Senior Vocal Competition Finals – 10 June 2022

Judge Announcement and New Start Time

We are thrilled to announce that our judge for 2022 will be the ARIA-nominated, indie-soul icon Meg Mac. Just a week before her headline performance at the Sydney Opera House, we’re delighted she could pop by Redlands to lend her ear and talents to discern the winners of this years Senior Vocal Competition finals!

Due to the large volume of finalists in this year’s Senior Vocal Competition, we have made the decision to bring the event forward to a 5.30pm start.

DIVISION ONE (YRS 7 + 8) – 5.30pm
DIVISION TWO (YRS 9 + 10) – 6.30pm
DIVISION THREE (YRS 11 + 12) – 8.00pm

As per the recent Senior Piano Competition finals, parents and friends are invited to book tickets for their child’s/friend’s division. The session times are guides only and indicate the earliest possible start time for the division. As seats are not allocated, ticket-holders are advised to arrive with plenty of time ahead of their respective session. Please also ensure you bring a face-mask to assist us in managing community wellbeing.

Private Tuition Studio Concert Series

Our Studio Concert Series kicked off this week and will continue through week 6 and 7 on both campuses. These lunchtime concerts offer a relaxed opportunity for singers and instrumentalists from P-12 to share their journey with a supportive audience of family and friends (whom we are delighted to welcome on site to join us!).  If your child receives private instrumental or vocal tuition, check for correspondence from you tutor about the potential time of their scheduled studio concert. Additionally, you can refer to the overarching schedule linked below.

Redlands Jazz meets Manly Jazz – 24-25 September

We are excited to be taking our Senior Jazz program (Stage Bands, Jazz Combo & Jazz Vocal Ensemble) to the 45th Manly Jazz Festival to be held on 24-25 September (the first weekend after Term 3 ends). Manly Jazz have just advised us of a date change to the originally communicated dates, and so we in turn apologise that we need all members of our Jazz Program to re-confirm their availability for this wonderful opportunity at the revised time. Our Head of Bands, Mr Joe Montz has recently emailed home with further information about this. If you have yet to receive this, please contact seniormusic@redlands.nsw.edu.au and we will point you in the right direction. In light of the proximity to the end of term, these new dates mean that no Friday afternoon rehearsal will need to be scheduled.  If you/your child is in the Senior Jazz program, please let us know your availability during the first week of the September holidays. Many thanks!

Students in Years 4 and 5 – MIP Instrument Reminder

Please note that all students must bring their MIP instruments to school with them each Thursday morning and store it in the appropriate area. Whilst we appreciate instruments are sometimes dropped off at reception later in the day, we unfortunately cannot guarantee that the instrument will reach your child before their MIP lesson. We encourage students to put systems in place to help remember each Thursday, for example reminders in planners or alarms on iPads. Thank you for your understanding as we support our students in developing independence in their music learning.
