Year 12

Yr 12 Relationships Day

On Wednesday, Tessa Opie was the keynote speaker to Yr 12 and facilitated the running of workshops on healthy relationships. Prior to this day, all students had been participating in Tutor Group sessions to develop their group norms and have discussions about intimacy and relationships, in preparation for the workshops. The workshops aimed to help the students have open conversations about important values and concepts in relationships, such as consent, respect, boundary settings and individuality. It was powerful to see how mature and thoughtful the students were during these sessions.

Dr Tessa Opie is the founder and director of inyourskin® and is an advocate for healthy and consenting relationships. She has extensive experience in education delivery and training facilitation. Tessa has worked as an educator across the government, not-for-profit, and private sectors, and has ongoing experience as a guest lecturer at various universities.

Tessa’s approach is sex-positive, evidence based, and harm reduction focused. It requires participants to actively consider their relationship values, attitudes, and expectations, in a social climate that feeds us often misleading messages about sex and relationships.
