Year 12

Yr 12 students have begun receiving their marks back from their recent Half-Yearly examinations. We have encouraged them to read and carefully consider the feedback they receive from their teachers, rather than just focus on their marks. The Yr 12 journey is a marathon and the assessments throughout the year are aimed at helping them reach their peak for their final examination in October and November. They have also been given time this week to work in HSC and IB groups to share their ideas and study tips with each other.

Drug and Alcohol and Training Australia

This week Yr 12 were visited by Paul Dillon, from DARTA (Drug and Alcohol and Training Australia) for the final time with our Year Group. Paul focused on the last year at school, and ‘What do I need to know about alcohol and other drugs?’ Despite the serious topic of driving, drinking and drug use, Paul connected easily with students and spoke in an accessible manner. He encouraged students to be as prepared as possible by being well versed about the process of random breath testing (RBT), roadside (RDT) or mobile drug testing (MDT). He provided students with some basic facts about drugs, vaping, and the probable impact of being caught with an illicit substance and the far-reaching effects this could have on a young person’s life. Perhaps, most importantly, he again discussed the importance of seeking help quickly for a friend, should something go wrong.
