Another week in the life of Redlands music has seen a myriad of musical happenings across our school!
Platinum Lunch
Attendees of the Platinum Lunch were lucky enough to hear a wonderful program of music performed by Secondary School students Charlee Kwintner, Aneke Golowenko, Sabrina Blasco, Maya Little, Ahnu Guan and Olivia Everingham. Repertoire ranged from Ravel to the Beatles and we thank these students for their contributions to the event.
Redlands Junior Piano Competition
The Music Department would like to congratulate all finalists who competed in the annual Redlands Junior Piano Competitions on Monday evening. Hosted superbly by Head of Junior Campus Music Ms Katherine Moses, all students presented polished performances from memory and demonstrated high levels of technical proficiency across all divisions. Guest adjudicator for the competition, Dr Jeremy Eskenazi was extremely impressed with the outstanding standard of piano playing from students in Years 3-6, commending all competitors for their technical work, repertoire choice and memory work. At the conclusion of the event, students were presented with their awards by the Head of Junior School, Mr Ari Guha.
The Music Department would like to acknowledge the work of exceptional specialist piano tutors, who mentor our young musicians in their musical endeavours. The team of Piano Tutors here at Redlands includes Ms Annette Houghton, Mr Diego Idarraga, Mr Zi-Hao Li, Mr Damon Wade, Mr Jason Xu. Thanks are also extended to Ms Arienne Brodie and Ms Nicole Roberts for their oversight in auditioning and selecting finalists, and in mentoring these young pianists in order to achieve a high level of performance and presentation. Thank you to Mrs Jacqueline McGlade for her meticulous work behind the scenes for this event.

Senior Piano Competition Finals – TOMORROW! Friday 6 May 2022 4pm
Dr Jeremy Eskenazi is looking forward to joining us in the John Roberts Centre again this Friday to adjudicate our Senior Piano Competition finalists. Senior Vocal Competition Auditions – CLOSE TOMORROW! (Friday 6 May 2022)
The annual Senior Vocal Competition will be held on Friday 10 June 2022. Auditions are open to all Senior Campus students, and invited via video upload to the Redlands Music Auditions iLearn page, with submissions closing next Friday 6 May 2022. Studio Concerts – Weeks 5-6 (Junior) & Weeks 6-7 (Senior)
Our Studio Concert Series each semester provides an informal and relaxed opportunity for our developing musicians to share their progress with a supportive audience of family and friends. We look forward to confirming days and times in the weeks ahead, and to welcoming supporters who would like to join us for this lunchtime concert series.
Senior Music Festival – Friday 17 June 2022 6pm
While Junior Music Festival is shaping up for our Junior Campus, our flagship Music event on the Senior Campus, the Senior Music Festival is to be held at the Concourse Theatre in Chatswood – now just 6 weeks away! ‘THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME’ theme is proving a joy to program and rehearse, and we promise a memorable show you won’t want to miss! Not just for parents of students in the cocurricular program, this night of nights is for music-lovers of all ages in our community from P-12. Ticketing opens next week, with terrific prizes to be announced also for highest number of ticket sales.
AMEB Award Top 10 ‘Most Outstanding Accredited School’ for NSW
We are thrilled to announce that Redlands has made the Australian Music Examinations Board’s Top Ten list in the category of ‘Most Outstanding Accredited School in All Grades, All Instruments’, for NSW.
Against the challenging backdrop that 2021 proffered, 92 students participated in these exams, nearly 40 of whom achieved a result of ‘Distinction’ or higher! We are very proud of them. This coveted accolade is a credit to the grit of our students in pursuit of their goals and to the parents who acted as camera crew to prepare these submissions. We are very grateful to Mrs Jacqueline McGlade for the work she did administrating, collating and submitting the examinations, and to our team Specialist Music Tutors who provided Zoomed lessons and piano accompaniment, as well as Mr Peter Winning from our Marketing Department for uploading videos to the Redlands YouTube account.
AMEB Examinations for 2022
AMEB Instrumental examinations will be held in September and the deadline for enrolment is Monday 9th May (week 3). In consultation with your childs Music Tutor, please complete the AMEB Instrumental Examination Enrolment Form. For Online Musicianship examination enrolments for Semester 1 are also due on Monday 9th May, please complete the AMEB Online Musicianship Enrolment Form.
Ensemble Attendance
With a number of exciting performances coming up for ensembles across Prep, Junior and Senior campuses, we would like to remind families of the importance of consistent and timely attendance in rehearsals. Rehearsals are all about learning to play together as an ensemble, and the contribution of each member of the ensemble is equally important. Should you need to miss a rehearsal for any reason please ensure that you contact juniormusic.nsw.edu.au or seniormusic@redlands.nsw.edu.au to advise of the absence.
