This Tuesday, students across all Year Groups participated in celebrating and recognising our many unique cultures that make-up Redlands. Thank you to all students who volunteered to run a stall or support a teacher in running a stall during lunchtime activities and thank you to all Languages staff who developed and carried through this opportunity for our students.

Aaron Beder Film Award
Aaron submitted his short film Not So Fast to the GreenScreen Film Festival in Perth. He was contacted for his submission and honoured with the Encouragement Award for “seeing a glimmer of excellence and the promise of a film-making future.” Aaron’s film description is below:
Ejected from his intelligence organisation on spurious grounds, a cunning junior spy must recruit the help of two schoolchildren to foil a corrupt businessman’s evil plan, which attempts to brainwash every student at their school to take power over the entire world.
Aaron’s film can be found on Youtube and his acceptance of the award can be found at the 7 minute mark on the GSFF 2022 Award Show. He was able to share his film with his Tutor Group and everyone was thoroughly impressed. Congratulations and well done to Aaron!
Redlands UNICEF Ukraine Fundraising Appeal
Redlands is fundraising to help children and their families in Ukraine. Redlands reached their goal of $5000 in the first week and has now increased their goal to $20000 by the end of term.
The Redlands community has already supported this cause by purchasing items at the Bake Sale last week and at the International Day lunchtime stalls yesterday. You can still support by donating to the Redlands UNICEF Ukraine Fundraising Appeal.
By contributing to our fundraising efforts, you’ll be helping UNICEF provide access to basic services including water and sanitation, immunisation and health care, schooling and learning, psychosocial support, and emergency cash assistance for children.
2022 Computational and Algorithmic Thinking (CAT) Competition
Redlands is excited to offer Year 7-12 students the opportunity to participate in the 2022 Computational and Algorithmic Thinking (CAT) competition. This will be held on Friday 6 May at Redlands.
The CAT competition is a one-hour problem solving competition designed to encourage student curiosity and promote multiple modes of thinking, as well as solving real-world problems. Interested students are welcome to enter this competition and previous computer programming experience is not needed.
The competition will help to identify students’ computer programming potential and is suitable for students who are interested in coding, robotics, digital creation or design and may be used as preparation for robotics competitions.
Students who perform strongly in the CAT will have the further option to participate in the Oxford University Computing Challenge held later this year.
The cost of the competition is $7.50. This cost will be added to your subsequent Term Fee Statement.

End of Term 1 2022
Congratulations to all students and a massive ‘thank you’ to all families for a strong first term of 2022. It has been an incredibly busy term with many adjustments for students, families and staff. Yr 10 rose to higher expectations and started engaging in meaningful iGrow Coaching Conversations to reflect on their past progress and to set goals for future growth. Students strengthened their flexibility in the face of uncertain plans and challenges. Yr 10 has embraced the opportunities provided to them for a return to regular school this year and many students are eager to look ahead to plans for senior studies and begin to explore future aspirations.
Thank you for your ongoing support throughout the year and for this incredible connection between home and school that allows us to work together to help the young people in our care grow to be the best version of themselves.
Wishing all families a restful and well-deserved break with loved ones.
