New Music Centre –  Official Opening

We were delighted to welcome our donors, Friends of Music and other special guests to the official opening and naming of the first building in our Senior Campus development. The building has been named after Mr John Roberts, one of the three founding members of SCEGGS Redlands Limited, who served as a Director, Secretary and Treasurer of the Redlands Board from 1976 to 1997.

During his time as a Redlands Director, coeducation was introduced, Early Childhood education was re-established, the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme commenced, the former Cremorne Girls’ High School, now the Junior Campus, was purchased and the High Country Campus was developed as a base for Outdoor Education and Winter School.

Today, all of our Redlands students from Preschool to Yr 7 are involved in Music education and many Secondary School students study Music as an elective and participate in our Music Ensembles program, which currently stands at over 30 throughout the School.

We wish to thank and pay tribute to all of the Redlands families and other members of the Redlands community whose donations have made these wonderful new Music facilities possible. Due to your generosity, the high quality sound system and lighting were able to be installed as well as the purchasing of musical instruments, which are greatly appreciated.

Alumni Jack Frerer (Class of 2013) composed a piece for the occasion Sonnets to Orpheus. Jack is a recognised composer of music for concert, film and dance, as well as an instrumentalist and producer, currently studying at The Juilliard School, awarded with the Adrian Weller Scholarship and the Steuermann Memorial Prize.

If you still wish to secure a seat plaque at this wonderful facility, please click here or if you wish to contribute towards the Building Fund, please contact me directly.
