Summer Tennis
Another washed out Saturday marks the end of the NSTA Summer Tennis competition. Although the rain caused many interruptions to training and weekend matches, there was still a lot of talent displayed and all students should be proud of their efforts this season.
Congratulations to Team 21 & 22 for finishing 2nd in their respective divisions! Unfortunately, because the round was washed out neither team had the chance to compete for 1st place. Regardless, the School is proud of both teams on their achievements.
Team 21 – Jackson Doyle, Finnegan Drew, Torren Jackman, Ryan Chen
Team 22 – Alex Arnold, Annie Zhang, Chris Szeto
This coming Saturday is the final of the Tennis Northern Beaches competition, where we have Team 1 playing for 1st place and Team 2 playing for 5th place.
We would like to wish both teams good luck for the weekend!
Football
The Girls Football had a great win in the first round of the CIS Cup last week against Sydney International Grammar. With a massive win they confidently move onto Round 2 where they will face Pymble Ladies College in Week 1, Term 2.
The Boys Football had a fantastic win in Round 2 of the CIS Cup against Cranbrook with a thrilling 1-0 win. They are now moving onto Round 3 of the CIS Cup!

AFL
Redlands acquires two AFLW Players to its Coaching Ranks!
We are extremely pleased to announce that Redlands AFL will have two current AFLW players coaching the girls teams this year. Ally Morphett and Isadora McLeay will be leading the Girls program starting next week. Ally is from Wagga Wagga and played the first four games before injuring herself and missing the back end of the year. She has a lot of experience coaching Junior Girls teams in ACT.
Isadora is a North Shore local who was drafted this year out of the AFL Sydney competition and has previously coach at the Mosman Swans and lead their Junior Girls program. She was on target to debut RD 1 before tearing her ACL.
Both Ally and Isadora will be playing for local senior team North shore Bombers during the off season while coaching and developing the Redlands program. We welcome both to the Redlands coaching team and look forward to them passing on their skills and knowledge to our players.

Winter Tennis
Winter Tennis training kicked off with a bang last week. There is some amazing talent coming through the ranks and as the training continues for the rest of the term, I’m sure we are yet to uncover the full potential of these students.
If you have any questions about winter tennis, please contact Luke Jeffery ljeffery@redlands.nsw.edu.au.
Rugby
Despite the weather Redlands Rugby has had a wonderful start to our preseason with a number of new faces matching up with some of our more experienced players.
It has been fantastic to hear from our coaches about some of the standout performances from each Age-Group especially across our Under 16s and Opens Squad. Henry Charles has been a brilliant new player into our Under 16s, with his athleticism and speed matching brilliantly with some of our strongest players in the program, Hugo Scott and Kane Thompson being two players who spring to mind.
In our 1st XV and Opens, Will Pearson and Josh Hicks continue to be players to watch. Both players were exceptional last year and performed brilliantly representing Redlands in the ISA Under 16s A Squad. Will brings an incredible running game to our program, mirrored perfectly with Josh’s elusiveness and speed in attack. Look for these players to form a deadly combination in our 1st XV this year.
For next week, we will continue to build on the skill and development across the group, with trial games and also our Berry Camp for our 1st XV right around the corner.
There will be a representative from ProFit Mouthguards at the school next week, Wednesday 30th of March. ProFit Mouthguards are professionally fitted onsite using dental moulds and offer protection for teeth and gums whilst also reducing the severity of concussions caused by contact sports.
http://www.profitmouthguards.com.au/home.php
For any student wishing to be fitted please contact Mr Jack Gooding directly on jgooding@redlands.nsw.edu.au. There will be a short form to complete which needs to be brought in on the day. These mouthguards are recommended for all Winter Representative Sports in Redlands including Hockey, Football and Rugby.
Fitness Centre
The Redlands Fitness Centre will be back open from Monday next week!!
With Winter Sport Trials and preparation for the ISA Winter Sport Season underway, the Fitness Centre is the perfect space to develop speed, fundamental movements and also power. All students can access the morning sessions which run Monday–Friday and start promptly at 6:30am. brilliant numbers across the sessions with over 35 students attending our Wednesday morning session this week.
Students are reminded to bring with them the following.
- A water bottle
- Towel
- Redlands PE / Sports Uniform
Sports and students are asked to contact the Director of Athletic Development Mr Jack Gooding jgooding@redlands.nsw.edu.au for any specific questions regarding these sessions.

General Sport Information
Wet Weather
If training is cancelled due to wet weather, a notification will be posted on the Redlands Sport Twitter page (@RedlandsSport) in addition, an email will be sent out to both students and parents. This includes morning & afternoon training along with weekend fixtures.
Thursday afternoon sport – wet weather arrangements (Yr 8-12)
In order to limit student mixing indoors, Students in Yr 8-12 who are dismissed at the end of Period 5 are required to go directly home. Sport coaches and Redlands staff will supervise their COVID-safe departure.
Thursday afternoon sport – wet weather arrangements (Yr 7)
In the event that yr 7 sport is cancelled on Thursday afternoon, students will remain at school until 3.10pm and participate in cohort-based activities.
Thursday afternoon – early departure (Yr 8-12)
As we attempt to limit student mixing indoors, there will be no classroom supervision for students who do not have any scheduled sport training on a Thursday afternoon. Therefore, students who do not have training on Thursday afternoon will have permission to leave early.
Fixtures
A friendly reminder that the weekly Fixtures (The Redlands Rhino) can be found on the Secondary School Sport page on Redlands Pulse from Wednesday each week. Please ensure you check this on Friday each week to ensure you have the most up to date fixture information.
Uniform
The Redlands sports uniform should be worn to all trainings and matches (students are not permitted to wear any non-Redlands branded clothing). In the event of inclement weather students should wear their Redlands fleece or sports tracksuit.
Game time and arrival times
Students should arrive 30 minutes prior to the start of their scheduled fixture on Saturday (unless directed otherwise). Please ensure you know where you are playing and the likelihood of traffic on Saturday mornings to allow adequate time.
Attendance at Sport
Can we please draw your attention to the following communication process regarding absence from sport:
- Parents are required to send an email to the appropriate Sports administrator prior to missing any training session asking for them to be excused
- Any student unable to attend a Saturday fixture due to illness, is required to submit a Medical Certificate to their Sports administrator by the Monday morning following the missed fixture
- Injured students are required to attend all training sessions and Saturday fixtures
- Failure to do any of the above will jeopardise a student’s eligibility for Colours, Pockets, and Awards & result in school disciplinary action
Please note that the first unexplained absence will result in a lunchtime detention with further unexplained absences escalating to a Friday afternoon Detention. Please refer to the Student Planner 2022 for full details on requirements for participating in a Representative Sport.
