Chaplain

Winter School is an essential part of our School program. The Chaplain visited the students and staff last week and was encouraged by the students care and concern for each other. The students participated in a Chapel time on the Saturday where they sang, prayed and reflected on Psalm 63 and the concept of God being the rock of our life.

Chapel was the final activity on an afternoon of community activities. First, the students participated in a STEM activity solving engineering puzzles that required hypothesising, testing and modification of plans to meet the requirements of the building project. There were bridges of straws that needed to support a book, towers of marshmallows and spaghetti, ferris wheels that needed to moved, catapults and scarecrows. The students worked collaboratively to creatively solve these problems, demonstrating our culture of thinking.

Secondly, students were offered a range of activities to clear the mind and reduce stress. Bushwalks, colouring in, touch football or meditation were all offered so that students could select the one that would help them most.

Thirdly, students and staff gathered as a whole community in a worship time at Chapel. It was wonderful to see students singing, reflecting and praying.

It was also great to have some discussions with students about the faith questions and to hear their thinking and understanding about the God of the bible.
