Redlands is part of a Giving Society
We are delighted to inform our community that the means-tested Redlands Scholarship Fund is a registered charity with Good2Give which is a Workplace Giving platform that enables companies to empower their employees to donate to charities and not-for-profits, straight from their salary, with no need to keep credit cards or bank details up to date and in most cases offers matching gifts.
Many prominent employers such as Westpac, Citibank, BT, NAB, Qantas, Stockland, Baker & MacKenzie, Deutsche Bank and others are part of this program. If you have a workplace giving account, please visit here.
Volunteering at Redlands
We are very proud of our supportive community and incredible involvement of our parents who lead and participate in various initiatives. One of these initiatives is the Second Hand Uniform Sale which has a long tradition at Redlands. A team of dedicated parent volunteers created a virtual platform to be able to continue to offer this service to our community during the pandemic. Proceeds raised from this sale are contributed to the means-tested scholarship and in addition, this initiative supports our Sustainability program. Thank you to the RPFA Committee and all volunteers for organising another Second Hand Uniform Sale later this term. For further details, please visit the RPFA page.
Thank you sincerely to many members of our Redlands community for your generosity and ongoing support! With your help and involvement we can make a difference in the life of deserving students who otherwise would not get the opportunity to experience a Redlands education.
Redlander Friendships for Life
We regularly hear from our Alumni community that the friendships made at school meaningfully endure well beyond the school gates. They still gather for celebrations, or a regular lunch date, and attend their school reunions or even found a business together.
Three 2017 Redlanders, Tom McDonald, Kristo Hakola-Parry and Sammy Crawford-Smith, have started their own video production company, Salty Films, based in Sydney, and founded on the idea of discovery and producing work of the highest standard. They have combined their talents in shooting, direction and editing, to create “an all-encompassing, well-oiled team for productions of all sizes.”
“At Salty Films our passion for filmmaking has always been inextricably tied to both our love for the outdoors and a good old-fashioned sense of adventure.”
They elected to go to UTS together because it has the most modern approach to hands-on practical learning. Tom said “the biggest thing at university was finding likeminded people and spending all your time working and being with people who are passionate about their learning and what they want to achieve.”
Internships can be invaluable, and Kristo found work experience with production companies helped him to see how a big production house, as well as a start-up, functions.
“I think the biggest thing for the three of us during our time at Redlands, was being given the opportunity to take the reins for creating internal videos on trips and at events and being able to have a laugh at assemblies and see what resonates with people.”
Salty Films have made several Redlands community videos incuding the 2018 Spring Fair and 2019 Artist in Residence program. Well done Redlanders!
