Science Week

During Science Week, students participated in an exciting Trivia Quiz competition that tested their knowledge and understanding about all things Science. Students from Yrs 7-11 competed in groups against each other for prizes within their Tutor Groups. The competition was very tight and only one answer separated first and second place in almost every Tutor Group. Congratulations to all of the winners!

On Friday, we were once again greatly privileged to be visited by Mr Larry Marshall. Larry is not only the father of Jessica in Yr 7 and Patrick in Yr 9, but also the CEO of CSIRO, Australia’s premier scientific research organisation. Larry treated Yr 7 to an exciting Science show in which he explored concepts such as waves, gravity and space exploration, while involving students in some arresting interactive experiments. Larry was keen throughout to show the links between different areas of Science and between Science and our use of technology. He left students with a new appreciation of the role of Science in our lives, an awareness of the importance of scientific research to Australia, and a fresh perspective on how it might form part of their own study and career future.
