Year 10
Year 10 Assessment Week
As mentioned in last week’s Note Day, the Yr 10 Assessment Week will be taking place next week during Week 3, remotely. Yr 10 will access all of their modified assessments via their subject course iLearn page. Students will be required to logon to the zoom, at least 15 minutes before the assessment begins to ensure they can access all the relevant information required for them to complete the assessment.
This week during Tutor Time, there has been an emphasis on how to manage assessment stress and anxiousness, along with strategies to assist with assessment preparation.
Yr 10 will not be required to attend any formal lessons during the week and can use their downtime to study or have a refreshing break to switch off from an exam and start focusing on the next exam.
Best of luck to all of Yr 10 as they prepare for next week’s assessments.

Useful Study Tools
Below are some useful study tools which students reviewed and explored during Tutor Time.
- Quizlet: Make your own flashcards online using Quizlet .
- Mindmap: Make your mind maps online.
- BBC Brain Smart: Need a quick study break? Why not stay productive and wake up your brain by playing a game from BBC Brain Smart . There are fun games to help you boost your memory, remember chains of numbers, get motivated and manage stress. And all without feeling like you are doing any real work (we promise)…
-
Flora: Are you finding that you’re struggling to focus on studying from home? Can’t help but dive into the ultimate distraction: picking up your phone? It sounds like you need a little Flora in your life. Flora is a free app that helps you to manage your screen time via a virtual garden.
-
Mindfulness: Smiling Mind (Links to an external site.) is a mindfulness meditation app which has programs to help you manage your stress, anxiety and depression
Break times, Balance and Relaxation
Taking regular breaks, exercising, making time for friends and doing the things students love are useful ways for Year 10 to maintain motivation and manage exam stress. These activities help you clear their mind allow students to return to their study feeling relaxed and refreshed.
Yr 10 IST Digi Ed Day
Last Friday, all 10 IST Students attended the remote Digi Ed Day which was a day dedicated to students learning about claymation along with students directing, filming and producing their own claymation from home using clay, found objects, their smartphones and stop motion software. 10 IST students had to design the characters for their claymation out of clay and then design a stop animation 15 – 30 second TVC based upon either a charity, covid safety, or encouraging NSW to receive a covid vaccination. Below are some pictures from the scenes of some of the students claymation TVC along with all of the IST students holding onto their clay characters. On our return to On-Campus Learning in Week 4, some of the best students’ work in each IST class will be displayed on the big screen at a Year Assembly.
