Year 7
Welcome Back
We hope you had a lovely holiday period and that students and parents were able to refresh and recharge ready for Term 4. We have a very busy term ahead with a lot of moving parts to it.
Week 1 (October 5 -8) Yr 7 engaged in Remote Learning
Week 2 (October 11-15) Yr 7 engaged in Remote Learning
Week 3 (October 18-22) Yr 7 Assessment Block (No Remote Learning Lessons)
Year 7 Assessment Block (Week 3)
Parents and Carers of Yr 7 students would have received a recent communication regarding the modified Assessment Block for Term 4. We believe the modification will provide students with a meaningful assessment experience, and one that supports them to:
- Prepare for an assessment task ahead of time, utilising organisation and revision skills
- Undergo a range of tasks – students will be asked to complete quizzes, tests and assignments
- Experience a managed sense of pressure, utilising emotional self-management skills
- Receive feedback on their achievement and growth
- Set goals for future learning
During the Assessment Block, students only log in to sit their assessments. They do not attend formal lessons during the Block, and they do not follow the Remote Learning Timetable. Instead, they follow the Online Assessment Timetable, emailed to parents earlier this week. Students have a maximum of two assessments per day; one in the morning and the other in the afternoon.
When students are not sitting an assessment task, they should be:
– Having a break, relaxing and being active
– Revising for another assessment task
– Reflecting on how they managed a task and identifying positive strategies to take into the next task
Sport
All students will have access to Zoom Fitness Sessions and Yoga this term.
Zoom Fitness Sessions: Tuesday (before and after school), Thursday (before and after school), Friday (before school)
Zoom Yoga: Tuesday (after school)
A schedule with Zoom links will be available on the Secondary Sports page on Pulse. In terms of Summer Representative Sport, specific sessions will be available for all registered students on Thursday afternoons with a range of other strength and conditioning activities. Specific details for each sport have been communicated to students and are available on the relevant iLearn page.
