Communication

Your enquiries are important. A reminder that general enquiries should be sent to your child’s Tutor who will direct questions accordingly. Sports and academic enquiries should be directed to the appropriate departments. Due to the large volume of emails received, it can take time for me to respond to emails and your patience is appreciated.

ClassAct 50 Task Challenge

On Tuesday Tutor Groups started the The ClassAct 50 Task Challenge. The challenge is a digital literacy challenge sponsored by the Office of the Children’s eSafety Commissioner. ClassAct consists of 50 challenges that students are encouraged to work through to develop a culture of respect and positive interaction in their online and offline worlds and to develop digital citizenship skills.

Each task relates to one or more of the categories:

  1. eSecurity—privacy, protecting personal information
  2. eSafety—managing screen-time, digital footprint, reputation
  3. Help and support
  4. Respect and relationships
  5. Cyberbullying

You can work through challenges at home too. The challenge is flexible and you can choose how you work through tasks. Rregardless of how you commit, the intention is to make digital intelligence part of your regular conversation at home to help increase digital safety, reduce negative behaviours like cyberbullying and to make time online as positive and enjoyable as possible.

Science Week

This week is Science Week at Redlands. Students were involved in a Science focused activity during Tutor Time on Wednesday. Breakfast with a Scientist proved popular with 58 Yr 7 students attending!

Be Proactive

Yr 7 have been introduced to the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens by Stephen Covey. On Friday, students will explore Habit #1 Be Proactive. Being proactive rather than reactive means controlling the moment rather than letting the moment control you. Students are encouraging to take action before problems arrive – fostering a growth over fixed mindset. Having a proactive mindset, students should see improved work quality and relationships etc. You are able to read more on the 7 Habits of Highly Effective Teens here.
