Year 9
Science Week
This week Redlands is celebrating Science Week. In Tutor Time yesterday students undertook the Science Quiz. The questions were based upon various scientific areas including Biology, Chemistry and Physics, and the duration of the quiz was 20 minutes. Students worked in teams of three for a very exciting and intense 20 minutes. We extend our congratulations to James Watson, Gianni Watson and Stuart Crick from Simone Bryant’s Tutor Group, Dumolo Blue, as they scored 19/20 on the quiz.
Tutor Time Pastoral Program
This week, our shared focus has been the benefits of forward planning. In summary, ‘what students can proactively do now to ensure benefits in the future’. This has much to do with mindset, striving for personal progress and change. Learning that personal progress can lead to happiness rather than momentary happiness derived from money and possessions. In addition, students were encouraged to see that a proactive mindset encourages students to set-backs as just that, a set-back; having resilience to strive to be the ‘victor’ as opposed to a ‘victim’. Students have been asked to create a portrait of how they see themselves in ten years. Students were also asked to list the positive attributes that they possess, as a person with a pro-active mindset. Students then shared their drawings and understandings from the session, and voted on the best portrait that embodied proactive attributes.
Sport
We wish our Yr 9 students all the very best for their respective ISA Semi Finals being played this weekend.
