Year 8
Camp
It is exciting that it is finally time for Yr 8 Camp, based at Yarrahapini on the Mid-North Coast next week (Monday 3 May to Friday 7 May). There is a change to the original information regarding where students will be departing, so please note, we will now be departing from Alister Street, Cremorne (Redlands Junior School – Dunnet Hall). Students are to be dropped off at 6am. We ask that parents do not congregate on the pathways or entrance to allow for other parents to drop off and for staff to assemble students in a timely manner. We will be returning approximately 2.30pm to the Senior Campus Friday 7 May. Please note, parents will be sent an SMS on Friday confirming arrival time.
Food for Day 1
Students to bring lunch and snacks for Day 1 (no nut products).
Staying safe
Please pay close attention to the advice in the gear list as to what to bring, but these items are particularly important:
- Broad brimmed sun-hat. Baseball caps do not offer adequate protection and should not be used
- Sunscreen and sunglasses
- Non-aerosol insect repellent and long-sleeved clothing
- No jeans, singlets or short shorts. Clothes should be quick-drying and provide sun protection
- Strong garbage bags for waterproofing gear
Medical Information
If your child requires medication (including anaphylaxis and asthma), it is imperative that staff sight all items prior to departure.
Further Locker Reminder – Student Personal Property and Valuables
Redlands has a supportive community and rich school environment. Part of maintaining this culture is continuing to uphold respect for our facilities and being responsible for personal belongings.
Students are reminded that ‘all personal property and valuables must be labelled and kept locked in school lockers’ (page 10 Student Planner). All students are required to have a lock on their locker by the end of Week 3, Friday 7 May. Students can arrange their own lock or purchase one from the Uniform Shop. To avoid the loss of keys, combination locks strongly are recommended. Thank you for your assistance.
