Year 11
Welcome Back to Term 2
I hope you all had a restful time over Easter and managed to spend some quality family time together during the school holidays. It was lovely to see all of Yr 11s smiling faces early Tuesday morning. Most were looking very smart but some boys required haircuts and have been asked to do so as soon as possible. Some girls’ skirts were too short and they have been asked to rectify this as soon as they can. Term 2 is shorter than last term, at nine weeks long, but I am sure it will be equally packed full of study and cocurricular activities. As always, please do not hesitate to contact me, Jess Howard, or your child’s Tutor should you have any questions or concerns.
Driving to and From School
As many of Yr 11 will be getting their P Plates in the coming months, it is important that once they receive their licence, they complete a ‘Student application to drive to and from school’ form. This form enables those who wish to drive to and from school the ability to do so. Without having handed in this form, students are not permitted to drive themselves to school. This form must be signed by parents and have a copy of the student’s licence attached before being signed by either Ms Mountain or Ms Howard, and Ms Van de Peer. Additionally, if a student wishes to be a passenger in a vehicle of another Redlands student, they must have completed a ‘Student application form to be a passenger in a vehicle driven by another Redlands student’.
Both these forms can be found on the Yr 11 Pastoral Page under Important Year 11 Information or students can pick one up from Mrs Coutts from the Secondary School Office.
ANZAC Assembly
We began this week with an ANZAC Assembly and it was great to be able to meet as a whole school in Dunnet Hall for the first time since early last year, due to COVID-19 restrictions. Yr 12 is currently on an assessment block so Yr 11 was the senior Year Group sitting on seats and being actively involved in the assembly. In particular, it was wonderful to see the following students playing a role in this solemn and powerful event:
Readings by Sophie Kennedy and Mia Kloiser-Jones
Prayers by Vincas Lapinskas and Omar Rihani
Ode of Remembrance by Lucinda Bentley
The Last Post played by Charlotte Harman
Singing led by Eden Borrie, Mia Kloiser-Jones, Omar Rihani and Callum Wardman-Browne.
Studying
All students in the next two weeks will be completing Termly Study Planners with their Tutors and also setting goals based on last term’s effort grades and academic achievements. Please have a conversation with your child as to what this involves and contact their Tutor if you have any questions regarding these areas. This Termly Study Planner is something they have been completing at the start of each term and they should be using it when planning upcoming assessments as well as topics and times for studying each week.
