Junior Sport
JUNIOR SPORT Redlands Pulse
Welcome back to Term 2, we hope you and your family enjoyed the holidays. We have our final major Carnival this term – Cross Country and another term filled with our regular Sports program. We have emailed you a letter to provide you with a picture of the overall landscape of the term. Please take the time to read through this information which will assist you and your child in your return to school sport this term.
And in what we have become accustomed to in this current climate, ‘If in Doubt, Sit it Out’ – any student, coach, official or parent who has any cold or flu like symptoms or has knowingly been in recent close contact with a person displaying said symptoms are advised not to attend their Wednesday and/or Saturday morning fixture.
Parent Information Booklets
For all Sports information regarding what sports we offer when, how to navigate our documents, as well as information on Uniforms and Carnivals please refer to our Parent Information Booklets on Redlands Pulse.
Cross Country Carnival
As previously advertised the Junior School Cross Country Carnival will take place on Thursday 13 May at the Cammeray Golf Course. All students in Yrs 3-6 will be involved in some capacity. We will be running a staggered format, similar to last year, where each Year Group will be transported separately to the course and compete either in the Championship Run or the Fun Run, both the same course and the same distance. To determine which event they will run in, students will complete the Beep Test in their PE lesson during the first few weeks of term to qualify for the Championship Run at the Carnival. For more information about this and what qualifying levels are for each Year Group, please refer to the Cross Country Carnival Redlands Pulse page.
Wednesday Sport
Normal Wednesday Winter Sport recommenced this week. If you need a reminder as to what your child has selected for their Winter Sport choice as well as team selections, please refer to the Term 2 Winter Sport lists. These sports will continue until the last week of term, Wednesday 16 June. For timings and venues for all Wednesday sport, please refer to the Winter Sport Training Schedule. Please remember if you are picking up your child directly from the venue you must be there before the returning bus leaves for the journey back to school. Please note these buses will not wait for late parents and no child can be left at the venue for late location pick-ups. All sports this term will finish and return students back to school at regular finish time of 3.20pm, traffic dependent.
Optional Morning Skills Sessions
There are a variety of morning skills sessions available to students if they wish to attend. These sessions are optional and other cocurricular commitments must be honoured above these sessions. All sessions are from 7.00-8.00am held on the Junior Campus. For venues, please refer to the Winter Sport Training Schedule. Late arriving students will not be permitted to join the session.

Key Dates and Calendar
On the Junior Sport Redlands Pulse page, we display upcoming Key Dates for each term. This has been updated for Term 2. Below that on the Redlands Pulse page, we also have a Sports Calendar that has a more comprehensive view of Sport for this term.
Representative Sport Team Lists
For weekly team selections please refer to the Term 2 Winter Sport team lists. These will be updated on Redlands Pulse following each fixture. Please remember that our Redlands Representative teams are fluid, meaning teams may change week to week depending on three main criteria: Ability, Attendance and Attitude. Any team movements will be discussed with your child by their coach.
Representative Sport Absences
If your child is unable to attend a training session or Saturday fixture, please complete our Sports Absence form located on Redlands Pulse. This will allow Sports Department staff and coaches to view prior and post fixtures and allow for another student to be contacted to fill in to make up numbers. As mentioned above, unexplained absences will affect your child’s gradings. As Representative Sport is not compulsory at Redlands, we expect all students who have committed to a team, commit to each game and training session for the duration of the season.
Draw
The Term 2 draw is now available. You can view it here and save to your phone/device. As it is live and subject to change, please do not print off the draw. We recommend checking back each Friday evening to ensure you have the correct time and venue for the following morning. There may be occasions where host schools change a time or location midweek and when this occurs the draw will be updated. For Rugby families your fixtures are released by IPSHA (Sporting Association that we belong to) on Thursday each week so your times and opposition will remain blank until then.
