Chaplain
The Christian Studies Department welcomes Mr James Clanfield as the new Subject Coordinator of Christian Studies. Mr Clanfield comes with diverse experience in Christian Studies having taught in different schools in both the Independent and Catholic sectors and experience as the Head of Creative and Performing Arts with expertise in Music. With qualifications in Education, a Masters of Education (IB) and Theology, he makes a wonderful addition to the Christian Studies Department.
Redlands prides itself on the collegial approach to learning and this is reflected in the Christian Studies Department P-12. With the addition of Mr Clanfield, Ms Fiona McKenzie and Ms Bronwyn Lihou will be able to have greater emphasis on their roles as Chaplains. We will continue to teach, however the richness that comes from a broader team will be a real benefit to the school community. We are looking forward to working collaboratively with Mr Clanfield as the academic Subject Coordinator.
Redlands is a school in the Anglican tradition and this is reflected in our priority of Chapel and Christian Studies as an integral part of our academic program and our School values. The Chaplains have a leadership role in the school culture as we both explain and commend Christ. We provide opportunities for Spiritual reflection at both Chapel and at the lunchtime groups of Thank God It’s Friday (TGIF) on the Junior Campus and Cru on the Senior Campus. This is particularly important for those students and families of different faith systems, in their understanding of our School’s traditions.
The Chaplains seek to provide a safe and open learning environment where students can consider the Christian message and gain a deep understanding of the key tenets and values of the Christian faith. We support and minister to students, staff and families in whatever way is helpful: a friendly encourager, listening ear, prayer support, spiritual advisor or caring support. Both Fiona and I are available as part of the Wellbeing team to support the Redlands community in the day to day life of Redlands and in times of particular need.
Parents are always welcome to contact the Chaplains.
