Year 11
This Week
It has been exciting seeing the smiling faces of our Yr 11 students on Gate Duty in the morning. Well dressed and shining examples of leadership in our community, these students have stepped up to their new responsibilities and I look forward to witnessing their commitment as the year progresses. During our Year Assembly this week, Mr Walker and I reiterated to students the need to adhere to a study regime in preparation for the upcoming Yearly Examinations. Please refer to the resources shared in last week’s Yr 11 Note Day if you are seeking practical tools to support your child in their exam preparation.
Ms Salier kindly gave her time and spoke with students about scholarship opportunities for tertiary study during our Assembly. I encourage students to connect with her if they have interest in these worthwhile opportunities.
We would like to welcome Nicole Dekker and her family to Redlands. Nicole joins us from Singapore and I know that everyone will make the Dekker family feel welcome.
Athletics Carnival
The annual Redlands Athletics Carnival will be held Friday 15 August at the warm up track at Sydney Olympic Park. Due to Covid-19 restrictions this year our carnival will be an option event. Nonetheless we are hoping for wonderful participation from our Yr 11 students.
Jeans for Genes Day
Tomorrow, Friday 7 August, students are invited to support Jeans for Genes Day by wearing their favourite demin and giving a gold coin donation in support of this charitable day. Students are reminded to refer to page 21 of the School Planner that details appropriate dress for non-school uniform mufti days. I would like to take this opportunity to thank 11MG, Ms Naoko Abe’s Tutor Group for creating a video in support the day. This is a cause close to the hearts of students in 11MG and they have supported Jeans for Genes Day for a number of years.
