Issue 34 2023 Term 4 Week 5 - 09 Nov 2023

From the Principal

Deepening and promoting a positive and supportive culture of wellbeing is one of our key strategic drivers, and I am proud of how we nurture the social and emotional growth of our students at Redlands.

Earlier this year we published our Redlands Student Wellbeing Framework, which outlines our social and emotional learning outcomes for each stage of a student’s development at Redlands (from Preschool through to Yr 12). This framework focuses on the development of five key areas of social and emotional learning: Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Social Awareness, Relationship Skills and Responsible Decision Making.

This week it has been wonderful to see these skills on display in our Preparatory and Junior School Wellbeing Days, as students participated in a wide range of activities focusing on their wellbeing including dancing, team building games, “kindness challenges” and silent reading. Wellbeing was also a focus of our special Yr 6 Chapel yesterday where students had the opportunity to reflect on their transition from the Junior School to the Secondary School.

At Redlands, we also know the importance of supporting our staff’s wellbeing as it is when they are “at their best”, that they can “be the best” for the students under their care. Last year we brought in renowned researcher and presenter, Dr Adam Fraser, to speak to our staff on how to best look after our own wellbeing, and I recently heard him speak at a conference I attended in the last holidays.

Dr Fraser spoke of the importance of finding regular bursts of recovery daily, weekly and monthly to ensure we remain “at our best”. Daily activities should move us to a deep state of calm (even if just for 5 to 10 minutes) such as meditation or mindfulness. For me, it is reading fiction and even when things are busy, finding a few minutes to read a book every evening.

Dr Fraser also spoke of the importance of having regular activities over the course of the week that energise us such as a connecting with others, engaging in a hobby or getting out into nature. For me, I regularly take my dog, Leo, for a run (or more appropriately, he takes me for a run).

However, I have also come to realise in recent years that directly connecting with students in the classroom through teaching my English class was also positively energising me. This year, I have missed that “battery” as I have been unable to teach a class; however, this summer season I have found a way to replace it by coaching a basketball team in the Secondary School. I am thoroughly enjoying our two morning trainings and Saturday games and feel recharged through the day and the week. (I am not sure if the players on the 17As feel as “recharged” with our 6:45am trainings.) While I will still get around to support other sports on Saturdays before or after my games, I know getting back to coaching basketball is helping me to be “at my best”.

Experience Project

Yr 9 have been flexing their muscles in the collaboration and creativity space this week, stepping gracefully and with good humour into the challenge of group work – not with friends, but with peers in their Year Group – for the purpose of supporting those in need at Christmas time, via an entrepreneurial venture.

Their challenge is to improve the experience of Christmas for someone else in their community through the lens of

  • Advocacy
  • Health & Wellness
  • Sustainability
  • Arts & Culture

While their recent Commerce unit had them working for ‘clients’ as an intrapreneur, we are now loosening the reins and asking them to be social entrepreneurs as they strive to bring an impact driven idea to life.

Highlights have been:

  • Seeing the walls, windows and whiteboards of the Learning Hub reflect their ideations
  • Observing how well they interact with our alumni and sport coaches Kathryn Wightwick, Emma Brady and Sophie Bailey, who are allocating and monitoring points for the Spirit Cup
  • The silence in Redlands Hall this morning when Andrew, a self-described ex-con, shared his story of redemption via the entrepreneurial startup Con-Fit
  • Hearing Yr 8 students walk through the Learning Hub whispering excitedly ‘Yr 9 are having an experience…will we get one too?’
  • Having little chats with students who shared their ideas and seeing the self-awareness in their honest response when challenged to come up with a stronger idea – ‘Oh okay then, yes I can do better…’
  • Very strong examples of self-management, collaboration and leadership
  • Seeing students engage with experts from their chosen fields on Monday: Meliissa Drennan, CEO of Green Friday a website that marries e-Commerce and sustainability, Sarah Grattan, Northern Beaches Councillor and former COO of UNICEF Australia, Alex Long, Community Engagement Officer at the Wayside Chapel and Sangeeta Leach, Board Member for the Wayside Chapel and Zach Pincini, Redlander, School Captain 2018 and thespian.
  • Newly elected leaders facilitating the Q&A with experts

Below are some pictures of our Yr 9 cohort in action during Experience Week.

Today the Guest Speaker was Andrew from Con-Fit.

He shared the story of his life from being a prefect in high school to being sentenced to jail for commercial drug dealing. In jail he was lucky enough to be invited to participate in a juvenile offenders course where he found the benefits of fitness – for mind and body. He found an alternate path to crime, a new purpose and regained his health. He shared some very compelling and powerful stories with Yr 9 about mistakes made, lessons learned and the power of reflection and a mind-body connection.

Andrew shared an important life lesson that you are the sum of the people you surround yourself with. He asked students to consider the top five people in their life because they are the people who shape and influence you. Andrew shared who these people are for him now – one being his mum.

At the conclusion of his talk, Yr 9 asked some insightful and thoughtful questions. Lachlan Mather asked about feelings during a difficult time. Ms Green asked Andrew what message he would give to his Yr 9 self. To this Andrew replied, “My Yr 9 self would be in absolute shock. I thought I would be married by now. But I wouldn’t trade my life for anything. I am completely content. Don’t be sad if your life doesn’t turn out the way you planned it. Things work out in the end.”

To conclude Andrew and Ms Green reminded Yr 9 to consider the following important questions when planning a business that has social enterprise at its core:

  • How can our ideas have social impact?
  • How do we know what a particular group of people need?
  • How can we test to see if our idea/plan lands well?

Yr 10 Camp

Yr 10 students are having a wonderful time on Camp at Myall Lakes. So far the weather has been kind, with warm days and still nights. This Camp is an important stepping stone to develop skills in resilience and self-management as students prepare for Yr 11. There is time for reflection after the challenges of the day and we find it to be a formative experience for those who attend. Ms Vale will be posting photos and reflections in next week’s Note Day.

Australian Mathematics Competition

This week in our Yr 7 to 9 student-led assembly in Redlands Hall, our Head of Mathematics Ms Karen Pittard proudly bestowed awards on students who achieved strongly in the AMC this year. Chaplain

This week we recognised the upcoming graduation of Year 6 with a special Chapel. It was an opportunity to farewell Year 6 from Chapels in the Junior School and make a formal introduction to Chaplaincy in the Secondary School.  In a moving ceremony at St Peters Cremorne, Ms Philips the Secondary Chaplain encouraged them to continually let the light of Christ shine and they received a candle as a symbol of the light they have experienced at Redlands.

The students made wonderful contributions to the service with readings, prayers and participation in the candle lighting ceremony.  It served as a reminder of how connected as a community we are to our school values and the light and hope that God has for all.

Mr Corcoran shared this prayer for and about our students in the lighting of the candles ceremony.

“We give thanks to our God for all you have given to this school and for the people you have become.

We send you forward in your journey with our richest blessings, confident in the knowledge that a light of love, learning and integrity burns within each of you.

That you will carry onwards to make a contribution to the world and in the lives of others.

May the spark lit here at Redlands shine brightly for each of you as you leave the Redlands Junior School. The glow from each candle is symbolic of the light that you have received from us and which we trust you will carry forward always.

Letter from a Member of the Public

On Tuesday morning this week I had a letter placed on my desk – very old fashioned, I know!

The letter was from a member of Bougainvillea Village describing the assistance two Yr 8 students provided him when he was having troubles with his computer the week before.

I was really encouraged reading the sentences “But I wish to praise more than just their technical skills. They were polite, friendly, well dressed, etc. They were a credit to themselves and to your school”.

Well done to Chloe Petering and Ruby Gasmus for living the Redlands values and taking on board the ‘other people matter’ focus we currently have this term.

An Adventure to the Junior School – Chat and Connect

This week a few Yr 7s graciously donated their time to help in the Junior School, supporting their Wellbeing Day, before then holding Q+A panels for the current Yr 6 students, soon to be Yr 7, 2024!

Thank you to Kate, Liv, Nat, Brodie, Mackenzie and Nico who assisted in the Wellbeing Day, helping to sell teddy bear ears and pens for charity, managing team sports on the oval and generally being a positive presence to encourage students and add joy and enthusiasm to the event.

Thank you also to Alice, Ella, Issy, Angus, Henry and Leo who arrived a bit later and joined forces with the others to share their knowledge with the Yr 6 students. In a series of Q&A sessions, they thoughtfully fielded important questions about sport commitments, difficulties of home learning and how their class and Tutor groups would be organised, among many more. They also responded to some challenging questions about appropriate behaviour in the Secondary School and how many detentions they had earned in the time here! The students were excellent models for the school, responding with care and compassion and offering a clear picture of life in the Secondary School for our new Yr 7s.

Are Yr 7 Good at Mathematics? You Can Count On It!

On Tuesday, during our Leaders Assembly for Yrs 7-9, Ms Pittard, Head of Mathematics, awarded certificates to students who had received Distinctions and High Distinctions in the recent Australian Mathematics Competition. The AMC is the largest problem-solving competition of its kind, with more than 170,000 participants from over 2000 schools. The participants are often drawn from the best mathematicians in their school, making student achievements even more notable. Yr 7 excelled in this space, achieving 3 High Distinctions and 17 Distinction awards.

This year, it was extremely exciting to learn that a Yr 7 student earned a rare Australian Mathematics Competition Prize. An AMC Prize is achieved only by scoring in the top 3 tenths of one percent of the thousands of AMC participants across multiple countries. Huge congratulations for his display of exceptional problem-solving skills goes to Lachlan Carter. Lachlan ranked 47th overall in Yr 7 AMC mathematicians, and received a Prize Certificate, voucher and a ‘Best in School’ Certificate for the School’s Highest Standardised Score.

Congratulations also to Liv Law and Phoebe Sun, who received High Distinctions, and Angus Baird, Gabby Demian, Jason Gong, Angus Goodall, Thys Hulsbosch, Aimee Kang, Lucas Keall, Fergus Kerr, Joshua Lim, Ruari MacLochlainn, Anay Mishra Mall, Aaron Oh, Connor Price, James Priestley, Liam Randall, Lauren Rolfe and Eloise To, who all achieved Distinctions.

Head of Junior School

On Tuesday, Junior School students and staff enjoyed an uplifting day of activities and fundraising focused on the wellbeing of our students, teachers and our wider community. Students were involved in a range of activities and sessions including a whole school ‘health hustle’, team building activities, dance workshops, Theatresports, watching a pantomime, art and craft, reading, potting herbs in recyclable coffee cups and beautiful card designs and messages which will be delivered to many local community aged care residents whose names we had sourced to personalise each and every card.

We were thrilled to raise almost $4,205.40 for Bear Cottage, a children’s hospital in Manly with whom Redlands has had a long connection and they were so humbled to receive the money from us this week. Coupled with the amount raised by the Prep School, we will be able to support this organisation to the tune of nearly $6,000 this year, which will make a significant impact to the lives of children at the toughest of times.

My thanks to all involved: teachers, Secondary School student helpers and mentors, parents who ran a BBQ, and of course the students who fully embraced the day which was coordinated by Mrs Clinton as Dean of Students and our administration team.

Yr 6 Chapel Service

This week, as another small milestone towards the conclusion of their primary schooling, Yr 6 enjoyed their weekly Chapel Service in the beautiful environment of St Peter’s Church, just behind our Senior Campus, where Redlands Secondary School hold their services. The poignant gathering led by Ms McKenzie and Ms Philips, our Junior and Senior Campus Chaplains, ably assisted by Ms Michaels, was an important time of reflection and acknowledgment of the time spent in the Junior School as well as shining a light on the road ahead. At the conclusion of the service, each student was presented with a commemorative candle by our Principal, Mr Corcoran, which we hope will serve as a symbol of hope for the next step in their schooling.

2024 Student Class Placements

Class teachers will soon begin to undertake the process of class formations for 2024 towards the end of this term once we have finalised the composition and balance of each year group team of teachers. As you would imagine, this is a very detailed and meticulous exercise that all staff are involved in as we strive to ensures the optimum learning environment for each student.

Class placements are organised by the teaching staff who see and teach these students each and every day and hence, know the students best in the context of the classroom learning environment, taking particular account of the following factors:

  • the individual learning, social and emotional needs of each child
  • knowledge of the different teaching styles of teachers in the next year group
  • friendships of students where this has a positive impact on their learning (students are also involved in this step)
  • ability levels to ensure an even spread of ability levels across each class
  • an aim to balance gender in each class, as best possible

Please understand that parents cannot request a specific teacher for your child as this would set a precedence that is neither sustainable nor equitable for all families. Please also note that younger siblings will not necessarily be placed with the same class teacher as older siblings as invariably, siblings can be very different in both their learning preference and their personal traits.

A significant amount of time, professional dialogue and thought goes into this important operational process to aim to match each individual student with the right teacher and peers and our Dean of Students, Counsellors and I also take part in this process with our additional knowledge of students.

Once year groups have finalised these, there will be a comprehensive face-to-face handover of knowledge between teaching staff before the start of Term 1, 2024, to ensure that teachers have as much information as possible ahead of next year.

These class lists are then displayed on the first day of the new school year but individual student timetables will be uploaded on Pulse a few days before the start of term so that parents have access to see who their child’s class teacher will be before the start of the 2024 academic year.

I hope this summary clarifies the detailed process that will take place later this term in this very important part of our preparation for 2024 and trust that parents will not approach teachers directly about teacher placements as has been the case already.

2024 Student Orientation – Friday 10 November

Tomorrow sees us welcome over 50 new students who will join the Junior School in 2024 as part of their process of orientation into Redlands. I know that our current students will warmly welcome their soon-to-be peers and for part of the day, Yrs 2, 3, 4 and 5 also move up a year to the Year Groups that they will be in next year and enjoy activities with different teachers. This will allow them some time with possible new teachers, new students, and begin to get a feel of new learning spaces and expectations. The students will also rotate around each classroom doing a series of engaging activities.

Yr 6 Into Yr 7

Ahead of their day on the Senior Campus tomorrow as part of their transition process, Yr 6 were thrilled to welcome a number of students and staff from the Secondary School for a ‘Connect and Chat’ session designed to help answer the many questions our students have and build some early connections. Many of the students from Yrs 7 and 12 were able to share their own lived experiences and I know our students found this incredibly useful to have peer-to-peer conversations. Coordinated expertly again by Mr Digiacomo, one of our counselling team who works across both campuses, Yr 6 enjoyed time with their soon-to-be Year Advisor and Assistant Year Advisor, Ms Walker and Mr Walker, as well as the Dean of Students, other pastoral care and Performing Arts leaders.

Student Wellbeing Survey

One of the key drivers of the Redlands Strategic Plan is the further development of a positive and supportive culture of wellbeing. Connected to this, and as started in 2022 students in Yr 3-12 will take part in the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER) Social-Emotional Wellbeing Survey, which they also took in Semester One.

This short survey is a confidential, strength-based survey which assesses and measures the overall wellbeing of students, allowing us to measure the effectiveness of our pastoral care programs, identify social and emotional needs of specific student groups and compare data with other schools conducting the survey.

The aim is to administer this survey regularly so that we can track the development of our students’ wellbeing over time. Next week, Junior School students will complete the survey in their classes and as before, if any student is uncomfortable taking this survey, please let your child’s class teacher know in advance.

Term 4 Parent Seminar

Our termly parent seminar was another positive success and I am grateful to our Counselling team for their work in both preparing and presenting an engaging session on how to help children recharge in the school holidays and then power up for the new school year in 2024. For parents in attendance and those unable to make this seminar, the slides have been placed on the Junior School page of Pulse for your reference.

K-6 Strings Concert

What an honour it was to watch the K-6 Strings Concert on Monday afternoon. Along with proud families and carers, we enjoyed listening to and watching talented students from Years 2 to 6 perform pieces of varying difficulty. The growth and development of the Yr 2 Strings groups was admirable. It seemed only like yesterday when the violins and cellos were handed out and excited students embarked on their strings journey. Look at them now, they should be so very proud of themselves.

The Yr 2 String program is quite unique as every student is encouraged to give it a go and see where this opportunity can take them, both musically and with their growth of self-belief.

We were also treated to Mr Owen conducting members of the Senior Strings. This was a wondaful opportunity for our students and families to see where the strings journey can take them at Redlands.

A big thank you to Ms Moses, Mr Owen, Mrs McGlade and all the tutors who support, teach, and guide our young musicians.

Prep School Wellbeing Day

What a fun and enjoyable day we all had on Wednesday as we took time and action to recognise the importance of our student and staff wellbeing. Prep got in the groove for the day by doing the health hustle followed by a Secondary School Dance performance. Throughout the day, students participated in various fun activities that encouraged everyone to work together, share thoughts and feelings, while creating fabulous clay pots, drawing and may more things.

Supporting sick children at Bear Cottage was a focal point of the day and our students helped raise much needed donations.

Thanks to everyone who helped create such a fun day but also a day that helped guide thought and action to not only reflect on their own wellbeing but also how important it is to think of others and how we can make a difference in their lives.

Big Hearts Project Session 2: Young Minds

In our second session of the Big Hearts Project, we had the pleasure of working with our group of Yr 2 students on emotional literacy and emotional regulation. Here’s a glimpse of what we covered:

Understanding Anxiety and Big Emotions

We kicked off the session by exploring the topic of anxiety and big emotions. The students watched an engaging video that helped them understand how the brain functions in relation to anxiety and why big emotions occur. This foundational knowledge is important for children to know so they can comprehend and manage their emotions more effectively.

The Zones of Regulation

An essential part of our program is introducing students to the concept of the “Zones of Regulation.” The children actively participated in brainstorming strategies they can use to regulate their emotions when they find themselves in different emotional states. We emphasised that it’s normal to experience a wide range of emotions. Our goal is not to have them always in the “green zone,” but rather to encourage them to seek support when necessary and help them function optimally when their emotions might be getting in the way of their happiness or daily activities.

Breathing Techniques

Each session includes a fun exploration of a new breathing technique. This time, we introduced the students to “box breathing,” a method known to be part of the training of NAVY Seals! We believe that teaching children these techniques can help them manage their emotions effectively. Here’s a video guide to help you practise this exercise with your children.

Junior Campus Parent Seminar

This Tuesday our Junior Campus counselling team delivered another presentation on ‘Recharging over the School Holidays and Powering Up for the Year Ahead’. Thank you to all the parents and carers who were able to come along. If you missed the presentation, the slides can be found on our Junior Campus Pulse page. Here are some key practical messages from our counsellors that were shared in the presentation:

Parents and carers play an important role both in helping their children recharge over the holidays. You can be proactive to support your children by:

  • Having conversations to set or remind them about expectations for consistent routines like bedtime (still important to get in those 9-11 hours), screen time (max 2 hours for all children, recommended 1 hour for younger children), physical activity (60 minutes daily is encouraged) and playdates.
  • Taking the time to empathise and connect before enforcing a boundary relating to any of those expectations.
  • Modelling some of those expectations yourself to create an encouraging environment at home.
  • Staying connected with other parents to help facilitate playdates and nurture friendships.

Towards the end of the summer holidays, it’s important to start setting up routines and expectations for the new school year. Encourage positives like involving children in back to school shopping, reminding them about friends and teachers looking forward to seeing them again, as well as fun activities at school.

By being present and mindful in being there for your children over the holidays, you can help to set them up for success in the new school year.

Waste Free Lunch Challenge

Tuesday 21 November

The importance of sustainability and how we can live it in our daily lives is a consistent message in the Prep School for not only our students but also for our staff. Throughout the year our Year 2 Sustainability Leaders have continuously led by example each day. Their messages and actions around recycle, reuse, and renew have been encouraging for everyone. The worm farm, composting classroom bins and use of materials in the classroom have all contributed to the evolving culture around suitability. The staff have been recycling coffee cups and have also been exploring ways to reduce printing, use of laminating and reusing resources.

To continue to shine the light on the importance of suitability, on Tuesday 21 November we encourage all staff and students to bring a waste-free lunch to school. A waste free lunch is a lunch box that contains no throw away packaging. Everything is a waste free lunch box can be eaten, reused or composted. Having your child help put together their lunch box on this day would be a great activity to do with them. Not only would this make them feel important and independent, but it would also provide an opportunity for conversation together about sustainability and what it means to them. Thank you for your support in helping our prep students embrace sustainability.

Yr 1 Features of Beaches Excursion

Last Friday, Year 1 students embarked on an exciting Inquiry Excursion to Clifton Gardens as part of their ‘Features of Beaches’ Unit. Our knowledgeable guides from Ranger Jamie Excursions led the students through a series of engaging activities. These activities included fishing, constructing animal habitats, bug-catching adventures and a valuable lesson on preserving the cleanliness of our precious waterways. The Year 1 students hope that the native wildlife will enjoy the habitats they created. Please enjoy some of the photos from the day.

Secondary Sport

Winning in sports is undoubtedly exhilarating and serves as a tangible measure of success. However, for young adults, the habits they build through sports can be even more important in the long run. While victory is fleeting, the discipline, teamwork and worth ethic cultivated in the pursuit of excellence endure as valuable life skills.

Participating in sports instills discipline, teaching young adults the importance of consistency, dedication and time management. These qualities translate into success not only on the field but also in academics, careers and personal relationships.

Team sports emphasise collaboration and communication, essential for navigating the complexities of the modern world. Learning to work effectively with others builds empathy, leadership skills and the ability to adapt to different personalities. The work ethic developed in sports is invaluable, fostering the resilience and determination necessary to overcome life’s challenges. It teaches young adults to set goals, work tirelessly to achieve them and to handle setbacks with grace.

In the grand scheme of things, few individuals consistently win, but everyone has the potential to develop good habits. While winning may bring momentary glory, the habits acquired through sports can lay the foundation for a successful and fulfilling future.

‘Change might not be fast and it isn’t always easy. But with time and effort, almost any habit can be reshaped’

From the Head of Secondary Sport – Mr Cameron Ellis

Sailing

Week four of the Sailing program has brought further excitement and skill development. Throughout the week, the sailors in the Pacer Squad have been further honing their boat handling skills and starting skills for the Redlands Cup Regatta on the Saturday 18 November. This week we had the sailors remove their rudders to experience the effect of how their sails and body weight greatly influence their steering and control of the boat, a challenging drill that had every sailor develop their understanding of these effects. Starting skills were developed through a box drill, with the aim to stay inside the starting box for three minutes before starting whilst also trying to force other boats outside the box using their sailing rule knowledge. The Elliott 7 sailors had the opportunity to develop their spinnaker trimming skills and individual roles on the boat for successful spinnaker sailing. We are all looking forward to hosting and competing in the upcoming Redlands Cup Regatta with further information being released early next week on a run sheet and schedule for the day, as well as sailing instructions and crews.

Housekeeping

This term continues to fly with another week down, students are still engaged enthusiastically in sport which is great, the weather was on our side last weekend for our Representative Sport and as we look forward there are a few key dates coming up for your reference;

  • Saturday 18 November is our final round for our mixed Touch, Basketball and Tennis teams. Please note Basketball singlets will be collected on the last match at the conclusion of your child’s match. Your child will need to bring a spare T-Shirt to wear home. Touch singlets will be collected on Monday 20 November due to lack of access to change rooms at venue.
  • Tuesday 21 November is our sports prizegiving assembly during school hours – no external guests or parents
  • Saturday 25 November is our final round for Girls Basketball. Basketball singlets will be collected on Monday 27 November due to lack of access to change rooms at venues.
  • Your child’s Term 4 Summer Sport (Non-Rep and Rep Sport) will continue with the final date for Wednesday Sport being 29 November

The Sport calendar for Term 4 onwards is available online on Junior School Sport Page. You can also view it by selecting here; 2023 JS Sport Calendar

Redlands App- Communication

In Term 4, all Redlands Sport Activities will continue to be through Pulse and the Redlands App.  Here you will be able to see all activities, teams and groups your child is part of, all scheduled lessons and locations and receive instant push notifications for any changes or cancellations.

Representative Sport Student Absence

If students are absent on match day, parents are required to complete this online absence form. This will allow your responses to be passed on electronically to your child’s coach efficiently and at short notice. The Student Absence link can also be found on the Junior School Sport Page on Redlands Pulse.

Representative Sports- Saturday Morning Match Wear

Just a reminder for all families who represent Redlands in Saturday sport, only Redlands Sports Uniforms and match day kit is to be worn. Each family should own either a school tracksuit and or a fleece that they can wear over the top of their playing kit if they are cold. Any incorrect item will now be confiscated as all students have received the same message.

Representative Sport Team Movement

In regard to representative sport and the movement of players across ability-based teams, it is transparent for all parties as unexplained team movements sometimes cause unnecessary stress. At Redlands our teams are ‘fluid’, meaning teams may change from week to week depending on 3 main criteria:

  • ABILITY: in direct comparison to other students across the sport
  • ATTENDANCE: any student who misses 2 games in a season unrelated to sickness may be moved
  • ATTITUDE: this is based on behaviour at trainings, on game day and not limited to the sporting arena

Please don’t hesitate to view our Sport Information page on Redlands Pulse if you have any questions pertaining to Sport.

K-6 Strings Concert

Strings students thrilled audiences on Monday in the annual K-6 Strings Concert. Yr 2 Strings kicked things off with an impressive medley of repertoire, showcasing a year’s worth of learning their instruments. Prep Strings, Yr 3 Strings, Training Strings and Junior Strings then took the stage with confidence, performing a lovely range of repertoire and demonstrating the progression of Strings learning at Redlands.

Students were surprised when the Senior Combined Strings arrived to perform as well! It was an exciting opportunity for our young learners to see their potential futures as Strings players. Gratitude goes to the Strings team at Redlands, our student performers and of course our parent community for your support.
