Year 9

News 

• This Year, we welcome Antonio Segorbe, Kia Habibi, Tess Miller Maliepaard, Jenna O’Reilly and Jamie Dawson-Damer to Yr 9. We look forward to getting to know all students in the coming weeks. Thank you to Finn Woodward, Josh Miller, Maia Healey, Poppi Justice and Bella Zepple for acting as buddies and showing the new members of our community around Redlands.
• Yr 9 were excited to welcome back Ms Walker, our Yr 9 Assistant Year Advisor, who is returning from maternity leave.
• Ms Willis has joined our Yr 9 Pastoral Team for Term 1 as Tutor for Cowper Blue. Ms Willis is an experienced English and Pastoral Care teacher has been enjoying getting to know her Tutor Group throughout this first week. 
• Secondary School Photos are Monday 3 February, Week 2. Students need to ensure their uniform meets requirements and they have their blazers.

Communication 

A reminder that subject related questions should be directed to your child’s teacher or relevant Subject Coordinator. If you are unable to find the necessary contacts, please contact your child’s Tutor who will be able to assist. 

School Photographs

School photographs will be taken on Monday 3 February and Wednesday 11 March. Yrs 8 -12 portrait photographs are scheduled to be taken by Advanced Life on Monday 3 February. Secondary School sibling photographs and Yr 7 portrait photographs will be taken by Advanced Life on Wednesday 11 March.

An envelope and flyer will be distributed in Week 1 and orders for photography packages can also be placed securely online at www.advancedlife.com.au using our School Order Code: NWL 4NR ETY. Portrait and group package orders are due by photography day. Should you have any queries concerning school photographs or online ordering, please direct them to enquiries@advancedlife.com.au.

Teens and Technology

It was wonderful to see so many students and parents attending Tutor meetings on Tuesday. Many parents shared that technology, and how their teenager’s use it, is one of their biggest concerns. Or see some of their top tips on what you can do to help your teenager manage technology. Everyone is different so it’s best to try a few strategies and see which ones work best for your family.

New Year, New Class

The first few days of a new year can be tricky and, often, not just for students. Dr Judith Locke’s article, Help them process their first day of school, offers some valuable, considered and balanced advice on how to navigate this sometimes delicate time of year. 

Redlands Study Centre

The aim of the Study Centre is to provide students from Yrs 7 -12 with the opportunity to receive shoulder-to-shoulder support or assistance in specific disciplines from Secondary School teachers. These sessions are not to be seen as formalised one-on-one tutoring sessions but instead should be seen as opportunities for students to get answers to specific questions of feedback on specific areas of learning.
