Yr 9 Languages Project

Well done to all students who participated in the Languages presentation this week. Students have been working on a project to create a snapshot of life for typical families in a city in their target country.  Students have been working on this project since Term 1 and presented this Wednesday to their peers and teachers. The Languages Section in this edition of Note Day has more details of this event.

Paul Dillon

This week on Monday, Paul Dillon presented to Yr 11, Yr 12, staff and parents.  He is the director and founder of DARTA, Drug and Alcohol Research and Training Australia and he is an exceptional resource with a long-standing relationship with Redlands.  He will present to this cohort in Yr 10. However, we have already started teaching students about positive and negative risk-taking, refusal techniques and education around DARTA last year and this year through PDHPE and the Pastoral Care Program. The DARTA website has several suggested readings for parents. A few articles specifically for Yr 9 parents were included in the last Note Day for Term 1. Additional reading recommendations can be found using this link to the DARTA website.

Current Yr 9 Reminders

Uniforms

Thank you for your support and ongoing communication regarding uniforms.  They are looking much better.  On Tuesdays, several students are still trying to come to school in their PE uniform.  Students should only change into their PE uniform for PE or for Sport on Tuesdays.  The rest of the day, students should be in their full Winter School Uniform.

Signing In and Out

For any late sign-in or early dismissal, please ensure your child is checking in and out through the Student Services Centre. We have a duty of care to ensure students are on campus once they arrive in the morning until they leave campus at the end of the day. If students are signing out early for appointments, a note should be sent from parents to SSAbsence@redlands.nsw.edu.au. If students are feeling ill throughout the day, students should see the school nurse, Emar Macken, and any needs to go home at that time will be discussed with parents. Students should not be contacting home throughout the day and making their own arrangements without seeing the nurse.
