NAPLAN – Week 4

All Yr 9 students will be sitting the NAPLAN Language Conventions and Writing on Tuesday, Reading on Wednesday and Numeracy on Thursday.  All students will need to bring a Casio calculator with them on Thursday for Numeracy.

Information was sent to parents through Engage on Monday 26 April. Please see this notification for further information.

As students will be sitting for at least two hours at a time during testing, we have created space during Tutor for students to take advantage of movement, meditation and other wellness activities. One of these activities is a Dodgeball Competition driven by Luke Barwise, Joseph Hooper, Liam McFarlane and Alexandra Tanner. Thank you to this incredible team who thought through the logistics for this competition and for their time next week helping to run this event. This is a fantastic example of an incredible student-led initiative by a passionate team of young people.

Yr 9 Drama Performances

On Monday and Tuesday evenings this week, students performed their Documentary Drama based on epic theatre, highlighting a social injustice for the audience based on a current or historical event or issue including multiple perspectives. Students rose to the occasion, chose extremely meaningful topics and highlighted them in a professional and well-written 5-minute performance. There is a talented group of Yr 9 actors and actresses and their skills in developing and performing these pieces was very remarkable.  Well done to all Drama elective students involved in this week’s production.

Girls in Technology – sponsored by Telstra and Commonwealth Bank

This week, several girls in Yrs 9 and 10 were offered a chance to participate in the Girls in Technology presentation.  This session included three keynote speakers and studio interviews with women in technology careers. Various events will be on offer for students more and more from now through Yr 12, especially organised by Ms Simone Salier, the University and Careers Advisor. We encourage all students to take advantage of these various opportunities to continue to explore options for their future.

ISA Rugby Trials

Congratulations to Hugo Scott for being selected for trials.

NSW State Sailing Regatta for RSYS

Congratulations to Alissandra Braden for qualifying to sail in this regatta with RSYS.

Cowper Yellow Tutor

Photos today were provided by Cowper Yellow Tutor, Luke Cantrill.  While students continue to learn Social-Emotional Learning, academic skills and goal setting in Tutor, there is always time for Tutor Groups to spend time relaxing, playing games and bonding throughout the term.  Cowper Yellow has enjoyed playing a circle game with various challenges as the game goes on.
