Year 9
Welcome Back and Happy New Year!
I do hope this summer gave you and your family time to rest, reflect, have fun and connect around the holidays and with some much-needed time away from the regular daily routine. Katharine Boase, the Yr 9 Tutors and I are all looking forward to seeing the students this week, catching up on the holidays and supporting them in reflecting on Yr 8 and setting their goals as they begin for Yr 9.
Our Yr 9 Pastoral Team also wanted to reiterate our heartfelt thanks for the beautiful notes and gifts shared with the team at the end of last year.
This is now the third year that many of our Tutors have been working with your children. Several Tutors have also taught the cohort in their academic classes as well. The more we know your students and the stronger our communication is between home and school, the more we are able to ensure your children are getting the necessary support as they move through Secondary School.
As Yr 9 students, we do encourage them to begin reaching out to their Tutors first when issues arise to ensure a trusted adult at school is aware of any situation that may be occurring. These situations may be as simple as a classroom mix-up to something more significant, such as a friendship concern. Tutors will share some information with Year Advisors for additional support yet all student information is protected and kept confidential as we have the student’s best interest at heart. We truly appreciate your support in encouraging your children to reach out to a trusted adult at school as again, we want to get these issues resolved as soon as possible so our students can move forward and grow from each experience they encounter.
Thank you in advance for your support and communication throughout this year ahead.

Yr 9 Service Initiative with Salvation Army Clothing Collection
Last year, every other week throughout Terms 3 and 4, a group of students voluntarily gave their time to plan Service and leadership initiatives for the cohort. This same group organised a clothing drive with the Salvation Army, an international Christian movement aiming to give hope where it is needed by providing clothing to those in need.
Our Yr 9 cohort will be collecting gently worn clothing of all sizes, except for underwear and stockings, at the beginning of this school year. Please start compiling items to support this great cause. Thank you especially to Jocelyn Wang, Yumi Konetzny and Daisy Thomas for their efforts in helping to organise this event along with several other Yr 9 students. Collection dates will be released shortly.
