Year 8
Dr Tessa Opie: Healthy Relationships Workshop
On Wednesday, Yr 8 students participated in a half-day workshop delivered by Dr Tessa Opie, Director of In Your Skin Relationships and Sexuality Education.
The Relationships Day was comprised of Keynote presentations by Dr Opie, and supported by two breakout sessions facilitated by key Redlands Staff including Year Advisors, PDHPE Staff, Pastoral Staff and Tutors.
During breakout sessions, students worked in seven groups facilitated by key Redlands staff, sharing their ideas and values surrounding relationships, sexuality, identity and consent. The students engaged with open hearts, respect and mindfulness, generating rich discussion in response to a range of prompts and scenarios.

On behalf of the Yr 9 cohort, many thanks.
iGrow Coaching Conversations
This term, students have begun to have their first iGrow coaching conversation with their tutor. iGrow is an exciting new data platform that has been developed by Redlands to holistically track and nurture the academic growth and wellbeing of every student from Preschool to Yr 12. This innovative program highlights where every student’s light shines and is used to reflect on growth and realise potential through regular coaching conversations and goal setting.
House Debating
Last week, Yr 8 Cowper versed Yr 8 Dumolo in a rigorous House Debate. The topic was: That students in Years 7-9 should be given feedback without grades, with Cowper acting as the affirmative and Dumolo as the negative. Congratulations to Dumolo who won their debate with argumentative flair! Many thanks go to the Yr 11 students who so diligently coached Yr 8, and to Yr 12 who aptly adjudicated. This week McDouall and Roseby battle it out, with the final taking place in Week 9. Good luck to our House Debaters!
