Year 7 Tournament of Minds
As part of the High Potential Learning enrichment program that follows the Da Vinci Decathlon, some students in Yrs 7 to 9 have been invited to compete in Tournament of Minds. Congratulations to our Yr 7s, Yolanda Bai, Alisha Rajalingam, Aashray So and Sophie Wong who were selected based on their academic achievement and the quality of their written applications to Da Vinci earlier in the year. TOM is a well-recognised cocurricular competition for gifted and high potential learners, which cultivates creative and lateral thinking as well as team-based problem-solving. Our Yr 7s will have the benefit of peer mentoring in the vertically structured teams comprising students across three Year Groups. TOM is an initiative led by Dr Poon, our High Potential Learning Coordinator (7-12), with the help of staff from a range of faculties – Ms Bailey, Ms Cleghorn, Mr Holden, Ms Joo, Ms Kang and Ms Wilson. I look forward to reporting on the progress of our TOM team in future Note Days.

The Top 16 schools in each subject of the Da Vinci Decathlon have now been published, and I am delighted to announce that our Year 7 team came 10th in Mathematics. An excellent result for their first effort in the high school competition. Congratulations again to Bear, Elysia, Enrico, Ethan, Jenna Jennifer, Keaton and Lali.
