NAPLAN
A reminder that on Tuesday 11 May through to Thursday 13 May, students in Yr 7 in all Australian Government, Catholic and Independent Schools will sit the annual National Assessment Program for Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN). The NAPLAN examinations are designed to assess reading, writing, language conventions (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and numeracy. Following the tests, all parents across Australia will receive results in a common reporting format.
While all students in Yr 7 are expected to participate in NAPLAN testing, it is important for you and your child to know that NAPLAN is not a pass/fail test. It simply looks at what level students are achieving in literacy and numeracy against National Standards and compared with student peers throughout Australia. More information is available here on the NAP website.
Reminders
Lockers
It is a priority that all students should have a lock on their locker door this week. This is to ensure that they can store their belongings safely whilst at school. Students should note down somewhere safe what their passcode is so as not to forget it, necessitating the lock to be removed via bolt cutters.
Uniform
All students must wear their Blazer to and from school as their first outer-garment. Students should also have purchased all correctly sized Winter Uniform garments by now, in line with the School’s uniform policy.
Pastoral
In Tutor time this term, Yr 7 are engaging with ‘The 7 Habits of Healthy Teens’, and exploring what constitutes these healthy habits. Currently they are addressing:
Habit 1: Being Proactive
- Proactive people make choices based on values.
- Proactive people think before they act.
- They know that they can’t control what happens to them in life, but they can control their response to what happens to them.
