Year 12

Welcome

A warm welcome back to all parents, carers and students from the Class of 2023. I hope that you and your family had a relaxing summer break as the Class of 2023 begin their final year at Redlands. A solemn reminder that this year is a trail marathon, not a sprint. There will be steep mountains to climb for students to achieve desired academic results, tree root obstacles to overcome and muddy pathways which will slow our students down; particularly around assessment and exam time, and moments of joy on downhill slopes when students complete all their finals assessments and exams. It’s important to emphasise that the Class of 2023 are not alone in their trail marathon this year. They will need well-being and academic support from their support crew at home and internal support crew at Redlands to reach the finish line. I am sure though, that when every student in the Class of 2023 reaches the trail marathon finish line, they will look back, and be proud of what they have achieved throughout their time at Redlands. I also encourage each student this year to be involved with their co-curricular activities so that they can use this opportunity to strengthen social connections with friends and switch off from academic studies which can become very consuming in Yr 12. The Class of 2023 is collectively a strong, hard-working Year Group and I can’t wait to see what 2023 brings to each and every student.

Welcome New Tutors

This term, we have four new fantastic Tutors joining the Yr 12 Pastoral Team:

Communication

Student Achievement

Congratulations to HSC student Ellie Trueman who completed her Diploma of Communications in December last year at ASCA (The Australian Speech Communication Association). Ellie also received a High Distinction for her Diploma which is an outstanding achievement. ASCA is an organisation that promotes and helps individuals with the development of oral communication and listening skills in education, professional and social spheres. Ellie is now eligible for extra ATAR points for Universities under the Elite Performer Award.

Ellie has also been selected as a finalist in the Hockey NSW Community Young Coach of the Year 2022 award.

Well done Ellie!
