Year 12
HSC Visual Arts Major Works
Congratulations to the incredibly talented Visual Arts students who displayed their completed major works this week. Here are just some of them:
Youth Ambassadors
This week I attended a Youth Ambassadors event, with student leaders Iris Buisman and Jack Murray, hosted by Federal Member for Warringah, Zali Steggall, who has been running regular meetings with Yr 12 leaders from local schools, including Redlands, throughout the year. This was the final session, which included guest speaker and outstanding local sailor Lisa Blair. Lisa has recently returned from a world record breaking, solo, non-stop, unassisted circumnavigation around Antarctica – winning the Antarctica Cup. She shared her inspiring story and talked to the students about resilience and courage. Lisa’s website provides more information of her incredible story.
Service-Learning Project – Vinnies Drive
Yr 9 are involved in a service-learning project focusing on Homelessness and Families in need. As part of this project, we are asking students across the school to donate personal hygiene items.
The items we are looking for:
- Shampoo
- Conditioner
- Band aids
- Hand sanitiser
- Deodorant
- Soap or body wash
- Toothpaste
- Toothbrushes
- Small tissue packs
- Hairbrush/hair ties
- Sanitary items – pads, tampons and panty liners.
A collection box will be located in the Secondary School Office every day during Weeks 8 & 9 this term where you are able to drop off your supplies. On behalf of the Year 9 cohort, many thanks.
Our Gift, Our Legacy
Yr 12 wish to thank the School for its support, encouragement and opportunities offered to them as a year group, and are proud to announce the Class of 2022 Legacy Gift – to support the means-tested Redlands Foundation Scholarship Fund, to honour Dr Sue Morey AM who graduated from Redlands in 1959 and dedicated over 50 years of service to public health in Australia and continue a legacy of previous cohorts. This fund provides opportunities to exceptional all-rounder students, who otherwise may not have the financial resources to attend Redlands. Currently, the fund has assets to provide four full-time scholarships, with a long-term goal to grant one means-tested full-time scholarship in the Secondary School annually.
Contributing to the Redlands Scholarship Fund, as our Legacy Gift, gives us great pride and fulfilment. Knowing this initiative supports a dedicated fund to provide a student with the opportunity to experience Redlands, as we have been fortunate enough to, is a Legacy Gift we believe is worthwhile and ongoing.
We are inviting the Redlands community to support us in our fundraising efforts by purchasing our ‘Class of 2022’ portrait tea towels and tote bags, or contribute directly to the Scholarship Fund. Please purchase here.
