Year 12

Fun Fridays

Yr 12 students have been enjoying some downtime on Fridays during Tutor time, which is fondly becoming known as ‘Fun Friday’. It is a time for no use of technology and participating in activities such as basketball, board games or quizzes. Below are some photos of the students having this much needed relaxation and spending time with their friends.

ISA Basketball – Report by Captain of Basketball, Sasha Jansz

What a breath-taking way to end my basketball career at Redlands! After a reasonably comfortable win against CCGS, we met our match against Barker which was a nail biter. Those last crucial minutes of our final game as a team were full of emotion, and when we finally won, we ran at one another with such excitement and joy. I have never met a better group of hard working, talented and fun girls who together made the strongest and most cohesive team. I feel so privileged to have been given the opportunity to play in the Firsts for four years and am so grateful to have had such incredible role models as coaches at Redlands who have continued to push us to success. For me personally, Basketball at Redlands has been such a safe and comfortable place over the years since starting Redlands in Yr 8 and I have always felt valued as a member of the team. What an intense but amazing last two games to end off such a successful season! It’s very sad to say goodbye!

Congratulations go to the Redlands team who have won the Division 1 Championship for the third consecutive season. Yr 12 players include: Meera Coburn, Julia Saunders and Sasha Jansz

ISA Swimming Carnival – Report by Captain of Swimming, Erik Scott

ISA Swimming event 2022 was a really fun and enjoyable day, the Redlands team put in 100% effort into their respective events and achieved many personal bests. The journey to the Sydney Aquatic Centre at the Olympic Park was full of excitement and optimism with the swimmers discussing their respective races and sharing advice on how they prepare before a race to keep their nerves in check. Due to the flooding last week, the traffic was heavy on the way to the Olympic Park which meant the bus was slightly late, raising the anxiety levels amongst the swimmers. However, on arriving inside the Aquatic Centre the Redlands team were able to get changed and fully complete the warmup, ensuring everyone was completely prepared for their races. The atmosphere during the events was fantastic, there was great camaraderie and support amongst the Redlands team and they could always be heard cheering whenever one of our swimmers stepped up to block or finished their race. Throughout the day everyone encouraged each other and as a result there were lots of happy faces and personal best achieved. Congratulations to everyone who swam at ISA and a special call out to Lachlan Green, Xander Halfren, Rafferty Heard, Julius Keller, Erik Scott and Loch Wilding who have been selected for the upcoming CIS Carnival in May.

Redlands XC Training

Students need to get changed at school, meet in the Undercroft and then will walk down with the supervising teacher to Primrose Oval at 3:40. They will return back to school by 5pm to be picked up. The training will be very useful in the lead up to the school XC in Week 10. In Term 2, the training will continue but will be at Balmoral Oval with a bus which will take all XC runners to and from the venue.
