Year 12
Yr 12 Privileges
A cheer went up in our Year Group meeting this Wednesday, when I announced that students were permitted to leave at lunch time to visit places like Chargrill Charlie’s and Woolworths. In the 4 years I have been with the group, it is the most excited I have seen them! They have worked so hard since beginning Yr 12 last term, and have had a turbulent couple of years, so it is wonderful to see a bit of ‘normality’ return to their lives and the simple pleasures of being able to leave school to buy lunch as a much-needed morale boost for them all.
Yr 12 Camp
Yr 12 camp has been confirmed as taking place from Tuesday 5 to Friday 8 April at StayKCC in Katoomba, which is so exciting! It will provide a perfect opportunity to bring Term 1 and Semester 1 to a close, where students can spend time together taking part in a range of physical activities, wellbeing moments, fun times, and study sessions, finishing with a formal dinner on the last evening. The students have been providing suggestions and ideas as to how they would like to spend the time at camp and a program is being put together that I have every confidence they will love. The aim is for them to enter the April holidays feeling motivated and as a cohesive year group. Please ensure, if you haven’t done already, that you complete all of the required ‘paperwork’ from the emails you have received in relation to the camp.
CIS Football Cup
Congratulations to all the Yr 12 boys who were part of the Redlands 1st Football team who competed at the CIS Football Cup against Shore at Cammeray Oval on Tuesday afternoon in wet, slippery conditions. The team is a combination of Yr 11 and 12 boys, and particular congratulations goes to Jake McLeod and Max Rawlinson who scored 2 of the 3 goals, leading to a 3-2 win over Shore. As well as Jake and Max, other Yr12 players were Sol Osborne, Riley Fenton and Captain Toby Van Extel. Further congratulations goes to Jake who has been selected in the U18 squad for the A-League team, Macarthur FC.
Clean Up Australia Day
Come along this Sunday as Redlands participate in Clean up Australia Day.
We have registered a site at Balmoral Beach from 12.00-2.00 pm, and we will be meeting at the Rotunda at 11:50. We will provide the necessary equipment, so just bring yourself!
Come along if you would like to help this great cause, clean up one of our local beaches, clock up some CAS hours or just want to have a good time!
Excitingly, this year, there will also be House points up for grabs for all participants – the House with the most participants will be earning valuable points that go towards the House Shield at the end of the year.
Join our effort here.
