Year 11
Welcome to Year 11
A warm welcome to all our Year 11 students and families! This marks an exciting step into senior school, with much to look forward to. We are committed to working closely with you to support your child’s learning, wellbeing and personal development as they progress toward their graduation in 2026.
Introducing Miss Nash – Year 11 Assistant Year Advisor
Miss Nash joined Redlands in 2024 as a Science teacher and Year 7 Tutor. This year, she will teach Science, HSC Biology and HSC Earth and Environmental Science while also serving as the Year 11 Assistant Year Advisor for Term 1.
Growing up in Port Macquarie before moving to Sydney, Miss Nash developed a passion for Marine Science before starting her teaching career. She enjoys exploring rock pools at the beach and brings her enthusiasm for science into the classroom. Over the holidays, Miss Nash traded the sunny Australian summer for snow and sub-zero temperatures during her travels to Europe. She returns to school feeling grateful, refreshed and excited for the year ahead.
Our Tutor Team
Joining the Year 11 Tutor team are Mr Tony Callaghan, Ms Pepi Henry and Ms Charlotte Berkeley. They bring extensive experience in student wellbeing, pastoral care and teaching. We are confident their expertise will strengthen our commitment to supporting students as they navigate the challenges and opportunities of their final years.
The Year Ahead
Senior students benefit from a structured yet flexible approach to study, balancing academic commitments with breaks, physical activity and downtime to manage stress effectively.
We remain committed to providing academic coaching, wellbeing resources and pastoral support to help students thrive throughout the year.
Communication
Open and effective communication between parents and staff is a priority. While we aim to respond to emails and phone calls within 48 hours, we appreciate your understanding as teachers manage multiple responsibilities. Rest assured, all messages are important to us and will be addressed promptly.
Key Updates from Ms Van de Peer’s Welcome Letter
We encourage you to review Ms Van de Peer’s Welcome Letter, which outlines important updates, including:
- Staffing Changes: Updates on the Dean of HSC (Ms. Sarah Matthews) and Acting Dean of IB (Ms Katharine Boase), as well as the Acting Dean of Wellbeing (Ms Lucienne Willis).
- Illuminate Scholars Program, Academic Coaching and Study Centre: Opportunities for academic support and enrichment.
- Uniform Expectations: Guidelines on hairstyles, jewellery and presentation.
- Lockers and School Bags: Notable updates for Year 11 students.
- Smart-Device Policy: Important reminders about appropriate use.
- Online Canteen Orders: Available through Flexischools.
- Term Dates: Key dates for your planning and reference.
To ensure smooth collaboration, we kindly ask parents to keep us updated with any changes to contact details, residential address, family circumstances or medical history. Redlands Pulse, our parent portal, is the most efficient way to update this information, allowing us to provide the appropriate support throughout the year.
